Have a feeling we’re gonna get a great whistle tonight, Illini don’t lose two in a row.

Think you'll see a small ball lineup before you see significant Booth minutes.
He even looks unhappy in the promo materials.

Mostly unrelated, but do you have any scuttlebutt for us about how Jakstys has looked in practice?

He played Sunday with Strep....Don't know if it's gotten worse or something else has hit the team.

Tomi was in ROUGH shape on Sunday … Probably shouldn’t have played but he wanted to gut it out for his team …

We’ve got a bug going around the team … Couple coaches have got it … Players as well … Too many people read this board so I won’t release names of who’s sick and under the weather and who’s out or not out … Just important to know we’ve got guys really fighting it tonight and giving it their best shot when they’re not 100% …

We hold opponents to 43% from 2(which includes shots in the paint) good for 10th in the country. We are also 4th in the country for opponents effective FG%.
I appreciate the stats. I think their 2 bigs will give us fits. I'd love to be wrong.

Not having Tomi will definitely be a negative, but we'll still have a considerable positional size advantage on the majority of their starting lineup. Every team that has beat this Illini roster has been in the top ~85th percentile in average height except for Tennessee, who you could argue is kneecapped in this stat by Zeigler.

Maryland is 125th in average height. The point I'm making is there are a lot of other rebounding assets on our team who can get the job done, and there are a lot worse games on our upcoming schedule to not have Tomi than against Maryland.

I saw on the home page that we have not had back-to-back losses in the last two years, which is awesome. What's more awesome is some of our responses to some of our losses:

2023-24
L 78-83 at #1 Purdue without TSJ
---> W 71-68 vs. Michigan State without TSJ

L 67-76 vs. Maryland without TSJ
---> W 88-73 at Michigan without TSJ

L 91-96 in OT at Northwestern
---> W 70-62 vs. Indiana

L 80-88 at Michigan State
---> W 97-68 vs. Michigan

L 89-90 at Penn State
---> W 95-85 vs. Iowa

L 71-77 vs. #3 Purdue
---> W 73-61 at Iowa (and it wasn't this close for a long time!)

2024-25
L 66-70 in OT at Northwestern
---> W 86-80 vs. #20 Wisconsin

L 64-66 vs. #1 Tennessee
---> W 80-77 vs. Missouri in St. Louis

L 72-82 vs. USC
---> W 94-69 at Indiana

L 78-80 at #12 Michigan State
---> ???? vs. Maryland

Look out, Maryland. :cool:

We have a talented team but enough is enough. In my opinion Illinois should not have 5 losses .We got robbed by the refs at Michigan State so I don’t blame Underwood for that but the USC and Northwestern losses falls on Underwood . No excuses or sympathy for Underwood. Illinois has a top 5 NBA lottery pick a ton of NIL some of best basketball facilities in all of college basketball and Underwood is one of the highest paid college basketball coaches in the country. It’s sweet 16 time nothing less . No more losing to bad teams this season. Underwood has to earn his money from here on out . No more excuses
At what point do the players hold accountability? At no point did you mention 7-32 from the three point line versus USC, 9 of 34 versus NW or 17-27 from the foul line versus MSU?

I mean, if you're going to give him all of the credit versus Oregon, Indiana and Penn State for the offenses going insane, that's fine, I suppose?

He can't play the game for these guys.

Noted that you've put your foot down though. Just the motivation they need.

Per Brad, Tomi was on antibiotics three days before MSU. If he's still THAT sick, it wasn't strep.

We can't have any more excuses when it comes to winning these games, especially at home. At MSU, people put the entire game on the refs shoulders and while that sucked, if our boys made free throws and layups....we win.

If we have guys that sick after Tomi got treated 7 days ago, we have bigger issues. Most parents can vouge for the timeline.

Gotta get this one.

P.s....if this malaise is hanging around, heck, we'll have the same issues on Sunday versus NW.

I only seek tonight a game where we hit our free throws and layups as those misses really mess me up.
