22 y/o student ticket holder here. Been going to games with my parents as long as I can remember. Nothing builds character when you're ten like eating pulled pork at 9:00 AM when it's 40 degrees in the WDWS tailgate tent, then going into the stadium an hour and fifteen before kickoff to wander around the stadium before getting shellacked by a competent Big Ten team for three and a half hours.

My dad says that he knew mom really loved him after she stayed with him in the cold, windy, rainy stands for the 63-0 loss to Iowa in November 2018. There were eight people total in their section at the final whistle.

We have seen our share of miserable football (3 bowls in 12 years, 1 winning Big Ten record in 14 years). I’d bet most people here have poured more blood, sweat, and tears into this program than it truly deserves. But that’s the essence of being an Illini fan, and it's all of these experiences that make winning worth it.
Post of a lifetime.
Keep it up, Kid.

How about if we talk about how Altmyer will do against Michigan. The wolverines lost a lot, and are obviously not close to what they were last year, but one thing they still have are some pretty athletic big guys up front. Can illini o line block them? If they get beat on pass pro, no matter how good Luke is it’ll be a long day, especially so if they can’t get the run going either. That’s my big concern for this week. Keeping with the kittner comparisons, the sugar bowl vs lsu, lsu was just way more physical and handled the illini. Nothing Kurt could do on his own.

Illini defense vs Michigan offense is a crap shoot. I have no idea what’ll happen. If 2nd half of Purdue shows up, Michigan will light it up no matter who is playing qb. It’ll be the game of the year for them. If it’s the d from first 5 1/2 weeks, they should be at least ok, and ok should be enough.

I think overall they’ll have their stuff together enough to play well. Still predicting an illini victory !
to expand on one of your points, our defense can't stop the run and offensively we can't run the ball. Against Michigan, that's not a recipe for success. I don't like our chances, but am hoping for the upset! Protect Altmyer in the pocket and get Feagin back on the field!

Feagin is out for a bit.

Husker fan here, checking in.

Glad you guys pulled it out vs Purdue and kept your good season alive! :)

I for one will be rooting quite strongly for you against the cheaters to the north. You've got 2 back to back tough games, but obviously @Oregon will probably the toughest one of the season.

But first....down with Michigan!

We had a super sloppy win against Rutgers but it didn't help we had 40+ MPH winds. Our defense finally showed up a bit more like we expected (they weren't bad all year, but we expected better).

I know you guys have Rutgers in Nov. While I don't think they're a bad team they're also not a great team. They do have a really good RB though (Monangai) who averages well over 100 a game. He started out gashing us pretty good in the first quarter (I think like 70 yards on 10 carries-ish) but then we shut him down the rest of the game.

Their offensive line was just ok and we got to Kaliakmanis (transfer QB from Minnesota) and he wasn't super impressive. Definitely possible to shut that offense down.

Their defense was decent, but Raiola had a terrible game with the wind. 2-9 in the 2nd half IIRC. I think if we played them under normal conditions we'd fare much butter.

As for Nebraska...as I said before you played us...our kicking game is atrocious and somehow it's gotten worse.

I think we matchup pretty well against Indiana but their offense seems pretty good (though they haven't played even a decent defense yet), so that will be interesting to see. We come in as 7pt dogs in Bloomington for the Big Noon kickoff. Should be fun, hopefully we can pull it off and get back in the top 25 (before we play @tOSU and hope to keep it close haha).

GOOD LUCK THIS WEEKEND!

We will trade you an excellent backup kicker for a solid interior defensive lineman.

Yeah I’m obviously the most pumped about the massive game we have … but I’ll be cheering VERY hard for the Huskers at 11:00!
Hah, I think I'm with you guys on that one. I guess we really need them to lose this game because if they win, we could be looking at a 11-1 Indiana team in the playoff, and we just can't let that happen. I will say though, that I do kind of appreciate Indiana stealing all the Cinderella B1G media hype from us so we can play with a bit of a chip on our shoulder.

Any insiders with knowledge on Jordan Anderson's position on the depth chart? Did the injury derail his ability to a greater extent than expected? It seems like there was a lot of excitement when we received his commitment at the time and he was dominant in high school (I know it doesn't always translate). Is he just not able to show enough to get some of AL's carries? He's as big as Faegin and seems built for the B10. It just seems like that room is a bit thinner than we initially anticipated coming into the season if he's not able to contribute.

I'll apologize if I missed the discussion about "Seventh-year journeyman Jack Tuttle is the planned starter for Saturday's game at No. 22 Illinois (3:30 p.m. ET, CBS), the 24th-ranked Wolverines' latest hope to resuscitate their struggling offense. Head coach Sherrone Moore confirmed to The Ann Arbor News/ MLive on Monday...."

I'm not sure how to react to this.

Without Feagan last week we ‘ran’ the ball with those short little passes to someone from the backfield. The key to this game as many have said is slowing down, not stopping, their running game. Offensively I think we need to be more aggressive in the passing game. Right now that is our strength. Protect and FREE Luke.
