MSU starters Frazier, Black, Ebo, Alstork, Nichols....at least maybe Kipper can get going by starting?

Just you all watch, we'll win this game! HAHHAHAH

I don't know if we win, but we'll be competitive. That's how the B1G works.

Mark Smith is the only guy missing for me to feel excited about next year. All I'm asking for the rest of this season is for him to show a glimpse of why he won Mr. Basketball.

I'd love to here how BU announces that one. "Hey Kipper, you're playing terrible and you make me want to pull my hair out...you wanna start?" Makes sense.

After watching the MSU-IU game right before our game, this is a brutal matchup for us. Ward, Bridges and Jackson Jr. are gonna be a lot to handle. Good game to test our mettle.

Is BU trying to push Lucas out the door? I don't get why you would take him off suspension and then not play him. Why not just keep him suspended if he's still in the doghouse?

Maybe it was supposed to be 3 games all along. But perhaps BU said 'he's available if we need him' just to cover in case of an injury in a close game or something....:noidea:

In a game like this, Lucas makes no difference whatsoever. TJL is not a 20 point swing type of player.

I know this board doesn't operate this way, but I feel Lucas, at this point, merits his own discussion thread. I am totally mystified about his status as well.

That's what I was thinking too watching their game before ours tonight. They also have one of the best defenses in the country. I just can't see us generating enough good looks to give us a chance to win.

Yeah, I had the option to be either at this game or Indiana on Wednesday. I'll be cheering for the O&B in person on hump day next week.

I hope we don't play such ugly and stupid basketball. Would at least demonstrate we are learning.

Especially a "home" game for him....and yes I think the writing is on the wall for Lucas and have thought so from Frazier's first breakout game.

Lucas imo will be a transfer out, enter Ayo, and free up still 3 more options.

Herard, another wing (Jones), and maybe 1-2 Juco or even late blooming studs for next year.:chief:

Could be one of the most lopsided loss in program history.

Or.....will the players actually show some fight? If we play like we did last night? 50-point loss.

We will get torched with the defensive lineup. Ebo and KN should not be on the floor at the same time.

They will destroy us as bad or worse than they did IU.

While I won't say it is likely, there is a very real possibility that we go winless the rest of the way. Not trying to be a catastrophic thinker here but I'm finding it hard to find a likely win (even Rutgers). Still have a lot of hope for the future but we are definitely in the swamp of change! Hoping for some sustained effort, continued improvement, some surprise wins, and a couple of spring recruiting victories to bump up the positive mojo.

This one should be interesting to see what the staff and team can do to try and turn this program around in 3 days. At least we're on our home court. If you're a diehard Illini fan, all you can do at this point is say, "Go Illini, win it!"

Stupid question. Does the team ever get to practice at the State Farm Center court instead of the Ubben complex? With so many road games, our home court may seem like anywhere else if they are never there. Turn on all of the lights, run some noise through the sound system, invite students to watch, yell, whatever & run some practices.

While asking stupid questions. If you are the head coach, do you just focus on prepping for Indiana instead of M-State given the short turn around between the games? Obviously do not tell the team that is what you are doing.

I would not ask either of these questions if we were not O for ... with solid teams coming in.

Going to be a tough match up against MSU. Didn't think this team would be going 0-7 to start conference play. This team can needs a player like Tracy Abrams, Chester Frazier, Sam McClaurin, Jon Ekey who bleed orange and blue and care more about the name on the front of the uniform than the name on the back of the uniform and will do whatever it takes to help the team win whether it means rebounding the ball, forcing turnovers, or chest bumping Eric Gordon at half court during player intros. Hoping the Illini can turn this season around.

This game could be interesting, but not from a box score perspective because I have zero confidence in this one, but from a personnel perspective. This should be a “all hands on deck” type of game, but not playing Tejon or giving him fewer minutes along with a few others could, I think, have post season implications. Guys who don’t have a role or who don’t play generally want to stick around.

BU said postgame he was going to stop giving minutes to guys who repeatedly make the same mistakes.
I think this needs to happen. Tough call against a ranked team in front of the home crowd though. Nobody wants to watch a blowout with the starters on the bench.

Whatever TJL's discretions, this could be his chance to earn minutes back.

The last time TJL took the court, he had 21 fairly decent minutes against Michigan. It is hard to see that as the reason he never left the bench in his home state.

I think this was some sort of "you're still suspended, so you won't play, but we'll let you dress in your home state" sort of thing. That may not make a lot of sense, but neither does anything else that has him dressing but not playing.

My thoughts too. if it was close and TF fouled out or got injured I think we may have seen TJL.
