What was the wind like for Chris White's crossbar miss against Michigan? Anyone recall? Anyone have an accurate recollection?
One of the best games I ever attended. I sat, or rather stood, in the student section in east main stands. Lots of hard hitting, crowd roaring every time Michigan broke huddle. Cool, murky day, hardly any wind. C White lined it up from about 41 yards out on the last play of the game. A Michigan defender Dieter something-or-other got a fingertip on the ball, which then fluttered toward the crossbar, hit it, and bounced softly out. Game over at 3-3. The stadium fell silent except for the several thousand Michigan fans, who cheered lustily. Both teams walked out to midfield, each in a long line, and just stared at each other for a minute or so before filtering toward their assigned exit points. (F Michigan.)

Yup. Great (intense) game despite the low score. We had beaten Ohio State earlier in the year with a Chris White walk off field goal and it seemed to be setting up the same way. I believe had we won we would have been in the drivers seat for the Rose Bowl. We wore all blue that day - cold with low heavy clouds and little wind as described.

The line has moved to ILLINI -17.
I'm sorry, that's too many, especially with the weather. We didn't cover that against Minny and pushed it against Nebraska, both of which fell apart at the end with backup QB's.

MSU and the under please. 21-10 Illinois. Imagine that score prediction for this game as ole Gritty being a Debbie Downer in the preseason. 🤪

Agree with this. Let me see quite a bit more successful downfield passing and a healthy Josh McCray to give Brown a healthy respite before betting on a -17 line against a B1G opponent that isn't Northwestern.

I was at the game. It was Halloween and my buddy who was the best at costumes (think....covered in a pink sheet with pink face/hair and a tennis shoe on his head.....he was a piece of gum on bottom of shoe) went that year as a goalposts with constructed uprights off his shoulders and a football taped to his forehead lol. We were on green street until the early morning and people were still trying to kick beer cans, cups and assorted things through his uprights :ROFLMAO: A great time to be at UIUC for sure!!!

I was in the east stands, but all the way north. I couldn't tell if the ball was going forward or back after the crossbar, but the lack of a roar told me the bad news.

Just realized the GA-TN game is at the same times as the Illini. Between those two games and the Breeders Cup, my remote is going to get a workout Saturday. I hope BTN wasn’t planning on anyone watching commercials during the game.

I was there, but I was in, maybe, 2nd grade so I do not remember the weather. We were in the horseshoe. What I do remember is my Dad wrestling (literally rolling on the ground with another guy) for a little white plastic football that was thrown into the crowd and deflected onto the ground. I also remember players sitting on their helmets on the field immediately following the miss - gassed and deflated.

Can't recommend moving off our game and missing the Pick 6, defensive scoop and score, and the 60+ run by Chase.
