I'm hopeful that TDV will be able to play. I assume that it was a twisted ankle or minor ankle sprain and they put in Art because they didn't want to play someone who wasn't 100% when they believe they have a good choice at back-up.
Otherwise, I'm confused on how this played out. I'm familiar with the RICE method for injuries like this, but not the RIDE method, i.e. ride a bike and walk around. I'm not an expert in first aid though.
Division in the therapy world between RICE and MICE. Looks like they opted for the MICE for Tommy.

I've noticed something very interesting about the Nebraska fan base (supposed to be the ~nicest in college sports~) and the Minnesota fan base ("Minnesota nice" being a very widely repeated phrase). And it is that they both SUCK, lol. Both passive aggressive and petulant jerks, if you ask me.

I genuinely enjoy reading other boards to escape my Illini bubble from time to time, and the Minnesota board seems to be cocky to an almost nasty level ... some posters there seem offended by the ones who give us any respect, haha. I get it from your Michigans or OSUs, but Minnesota? They've been better than us pre-Bielema, but the gap since he was hired is alarmingly small for them to have such arrogance. I guess fans take on the personality of their coach. :ROFLMAO:

I can honestly say Minnesota is one of the schools in the Big Ten that I think/care the least about, but I really want this one!
As to Nebraska, I can at least say that all of the Nebraska fans that I saw in Champaign last year all seemed very pleasant and respectful of their hosts.

I really don't know many Minnesota fans. But I do get a tiny bit of an insecure vibe from them. Not to the extent of Michigan State fans, but certainly more than many other in the B1G. It can't be easy being overshadowed by two major border rivals in football and basketball for about 20 years.

I have not spent much time with Nebraska fans in person ... however, their demeanor online screams "We will be the most polite and courteous people you have ever met as long as you bow down before the juggernaut that is Nebraska Football." They get a bit more nasty when they suck.

Moved to Minnesota from Chicago a few years ago and one of the first things I learned that "Minnesota nice" is really just a pseudonym for passive-agressive.

Soon after moving here I had a doctor's appointment and we were chatting about backgrounds. He asked me how I was getting along with people/neighbors since I moved. I thought this was sort of a weird question but told him OK, not that much interaction. His response was not to worry about it. Minnesota was the most insular and standoffish place he had ever lived.

It might not help a lot that I fly my big, orange I flag every day! 😉

Exactly they will be exceedingly polite to your face but I remember last year the dad tell his young son during the game that "They just aren't playing well. There's no reason we should be losing a team like Illinois." As if it was beyond the realm of possibility that Illinois could be good enough to actually win the game.

I would think that an outsider that visited this board might think our demeanor is a little obnoxious. 😀

Unfortunately since 2008 this statement could be made by most teams after a loss to Illini in football. It is possible BB has turned it around in just his 2nd season.

Mike White got us to 7-4 his 2nd season although we did not go to a bowl game. We went to Rose Bowl year 4. Our four losses were all on road

Pittsburgh (11-1) national champions
Michigan (9-3)
Ohio State (9-3)
Purdue (5-6)

I am greedy and would like to win the Big Ten West.

We are 5-1 and probably favored vs Neb and NW +2
Pickem vs Minn, MSU, Purdue +1
Probable loss at Michigan

That puts us at 8-4 (5-4 conf).

To win B10W I am guessing we will need 7-2 record so we need to win all three pickems. Of course that would make us 10-2 with a great shot at Rose Bowl berth if Ohio State is in BCS. We would need to be higher ranked than Michigan. Of course a win in Ann Arbor solves both!

Perhaps, but even in hoops I find our fans possibly even ANNOYINGLY down to earth, lol. For example, the toxic arrogance when we’re reigning Big Ten champs doesn’t even hold a candle to IU’s fan base when they’re … ranked preseason, lol.

I can concur with this. I lived up there for 15 years. Not just the fanbase, but the entire city is incredibly passive-aggressive. Minnesota Nice is a total scam. The joke is that Minnesotans will give you directions anywhere except to their house. Almost all my friends up there were from other states and we bonded over our dislike of the U of MN. For the fans out there, it’s honestly a weak fanbase. People care more about the Vikings, Wild, TWolves, and Twins. The Golden Rodents are almost an afterthought. Even though that’s the case, I always appreciated Illini victories over them while I was living up there.

Minnesota's running back, Mo Ibrahim, is reportedly playing Saturday. Is it possible that he'll not be 100% after missing their last game (a 20-10 loss) against Purdue with an ankle injury? From the Purdue @ Minnesota ESPN game summary:

"No. 21 Minnesota, meanwhile, held star running back Mohamed Ibrahim out of Saturday's game after he appeared to injure an ankle last week against Michigan State."

The sad point is how many times I have said this about whichever lousy team we were losing to at the time.

I went to the Illinois at Southern Miss game years ago. Multiple Southern Miss fans genuinely thanked me for coming. Both before and after the game. They also wanted to know if I had a good time.

Never met better fans.
When I went to The Grove at Ole Miss I was at a tailgate party hosted by my buddy's sister's roommates' parents, and the mom in question kept coming over with jambalaya and cake and all sorts of delicious stuff trying to get us to eat more food.

On a different trip I was down by Biloxi and had maybe the best BBQ meal I've ever had at a place called "The Shed" except the titular shed had recently burned down and they were serving out of the intact smokehouse onto picnic tables out along the bayou.

Underrated state.

We will be playing in front of full(?) stadium at home for the possibly the B10 west championship. Brett will have the team ready. Compared to past 8 years of Beckman/Smith lameball I am so pumped.

Illinois 13 Minnesota 10.

I am travelling to wedding in Houston. Do they have B10 network at my hotel? Otherwise I will be watching game on my phone 🤓

Thank goodness for 11 am kickoff. It would be bad to have play by play in background while the bride and groom are taking their vows. The groom and most of grooms party are Illini grads and former block I. Maybe that is why it is a 5 pm wedding.
Weddings are traditionally in June because (a) no football and (b) individual baseball games aren’t that important in June.

The word I believe that applies to them is “hubris.”

He and Divito are going to do a 50-yard sprint pre-game, and whomever wins that is the team I am putting my money on.
