I’ll say this, Washington gave us the blueprint for beating Nebraska tonight. If you can keep Colandrea contained in the pocket, his effectiveness falls off a cliff. Do not “over rush” to get home on him, pin him in and make him throw.

If you let him get outside the pocket, or you get too far up field and give him that middle lane, he will make you pay. He’s an elite runner. But if you don’t let him take off and freelance, make him beat you with his arm, he’s going to struggle.

Nebraska has a much better defense than prior years. They generate a lot of pressure. Going to need Hauser to be quick getting rid of the ball.

It’s going to be interesting. Definitely a winnable game though.
Containing running QBs has not been our strength. Washington had some big carries yesterday. Hopefully our D does some more planning and scheming this week.

Houser needs to look for quick screens or crossing routes and not key on Dixon. He hit a couple of crossing routes yesterday. I would be curious to see Boyd in a few series on Friday with some passes. Every play he has been in on has been a run play (either by himself or via handoff). Defenses stack the box when he comes in.

I'm actually shocked it's that high.. 3 game win streak for us, home game on a Friday at 7pm, atmosphere will be insane, and a bowl game on the line. I'd SMASH Illinois at -6.
Reeling it in did a second, our three game winning streak consists of beating a really bad MSU team and a really bad MD pretty much at the buzzer. We were on the right side of both barn burners. We played Oregon without their starter(that's for the year so everyone gets that) and their THREE top wide receivers.

Let's be honest, we'd probably beat OSU if that Fahey guy was QB'ing and no Smith, McCuin and Innis. Can you imagine where we'd be if we were starting Clayton, but no Dixon, Trimble and Clement. Would we pick up a first down?

We NEEDED a three game winning streak, but we're still a team that got handled by Purdue....at home.

I'm a hack message board participant....Vegas knows that despite Nebraska's recent clown show and a buffoon head coach.....in the grand scheme of things, they have more talent. They have more ways to best us that vice versa.

Ill-ini blue edition. Yes pls 💙💙💙
Illinois has struggled with brand identity since Chief was retired. I saw these Ill-ini mockups posted in the uniform thread last night and thought, “These are our identity”. Genius, IllinoisIntegrity

I’d probably just tell him to keep throwing to the open receiver….which happens to be Dixon a lot of the time.

Believe I'm going with a really tight game this Friday, and UNDER the 47.5 pts. NEB has a good defense, and we have an improving D.

Waiting to see if Houser is still healthy before giving a prediction.

Those are great fans that deserve better than what they've gotten the past decade.

The last time Nebraska didn't have a losing conference record was in the Obama Administration.

And every fan base complains about bad beats and heartbreaking losses, but it feels like they are at the top of the list. We have some hard-to-believe wins against them for sure, and if you haven't seen the last two minutes of last nights game, go check out the highlights. Hard to punch your fans in the face any harder than that.

Extending Matt Rhule at 6-2 last year was a nightmare decision for NIL world, as some of us immediately pointed out at the time. Penn State juicing their NIL budget with his buyout would have been a godsend for them. Total failure of strategic thinking, imagine if they had Bob Chesney right now.

New SP+ update this morning STILL has them ahead of USC and Iowa, #18 in the country.

We barely moved, I wondered if we might fall.

I would be pounding Nebby -6, it's a Gritty special of both smart-guy advanced stats and dumb-guy gambler's fallacy.

We're feeling ourselves, they are 10/10 angry and desperate, short week, night game wearing goofy uniforms, this has blowout written all over it.

(Looming in the background like Michael Myers, Vegas Always Knows)
Let's look at your prediction about 5 minutes into yesterday's game.

That game turned quicker than just about any I could recall. From last-gasp prayer by Washington to two score lead in the blink of an eye.

Took me too long when I started betting, but without even looking at stats if you look a line that looks too juicy to stay away from, bet against what you want to bet and you will win most of the time. So just judged on that logic looking like an uphill battle on this game for the illini.

More likely that it’s 10/10 broken and dejected.

If angry and desperate was thing, they would’ve won yesterday after their results against IU and Oregon.

They didn't play GREAT, but if they stop a 4th and 18 with 1:42 left last night they are #23 right now and a sneaky playoff sleeper.

Instead they will spend the short week with their phones blowing up with outside chatter saying the program is dead forever because they can't afford to fire their coach.

The mood darkened enormously there in the blink of an eye, no comparison.

Obviously I hope I'm wrong and I have much more respect for the randomness of football than I used to, not to mention respect for Bert & Co. But what the heck, for the good of the discourse and to give everybody a lovely chance to dunk on me lets say it with my whole chest: we're going to get boat raced on Friday.

Can we end another opposing coaches tenure on Friday?
I think we would need to really embarrass them (ala like iU did to them last year ) for that to really be a possibility .
