Unless I missed something, Nebraska has beaten...K-State on the road.
That's it. That's every road win they've got. And it was like a month and a half ago.
Edit: I also think we're progressively getting back to a fully loaded roster, with more experience and offensive flow. I'm expecting a full-blown mollywhopping of the Fighting Hoibergs. I am debating making the drive back for this one.

Thank for sharing this, kind sir/ma'am. I laughed and cried uncontrollably for a minute straight and really needed that.

Getting back to the point of this thread, does Nebby have the players to do to us what MD did to us at our place? hope not

I haven't watched them play, but do know they are great at home and lousy on the road. Will that likely be true for our game as well?

I sure like having 3rd place all to ourselves for now until we go on what I predict will be a long winning streak to finish the reg season and probably get to the BTT semi-finals at least, hopefully starting with this Nebby game.
Count me as glad our game with them is at the friendly confines of SFC..........I really really am.............

That was my first game ever at Assembly Hall. When McBride hit the three, it was truly as loud as anything you could imagine. That’s why I’ll never accept these BS excuses that there’s some like architectural limitation keeping SFC from being deafening … I’ve literally been present for the proof that this claim is NOT true.

As sad as it is, the problem is us the fans. BTW, that full game is on YouTube, so you can relive the magic! Krush should frankly be forced to stand and watch it.
Fixed it for you

Wasn’t sure where to post this random opinion, but here it is… watching PU/NU and I have to give it to Purdue, they really did a great job rebranding their arena, especially the court floor. It’s so much cleaner than SFC without disjointed corporate branding and their simple light hardwood from end to end. So sharp. I don’t understand why SFC has to be so unnecessarily busy. I hate the different floor stains & the State of Illinois is unnecessary. Just the block I or Illinois in script would be much more impactful on light stained hardwood. Other arenas tone down the Libman green logos and state farm red branding also, why can’t we? Are we that much more thirsty for corporate cash? Don’t get me started on the RED State Farm logo on the court. It should be replaced with the State Farm Center logo displayed on the background during pressers… just my humble opinion.
Amen, sister. Preach. IMO it's the difference between Purdue's arena remaining Mackey Arena and not becoming "Eli Lilly Arena." As for the hardwood adornment: less is more. Those giant midcourt logos that abound are unattractive.

I can't recall but assume that the dastardly, destructive Mike Thomas had a hand in the AH becoming the SFC. I've been a steadfast customer of its insurance my entire adulthood but, really: Hands Off Our Hall; stay over there in Bloomington.

They certainly could have at least called it the State Farm Assembly Hall to allow 90% of fans to just keep using the original name.

The Illini are 9-2 all-time vs. Nebraska at home, with the only losses coming in our bad 2016 season and a loss in 1921 at Kenney Gym, lol. So, in the modern era, we are 9-1 in Champaign vs. Nebraska. We have also won 7 straight vs. the Huskers dating back to February 2019. The only one that was TRULY close from wire to wire was a mini heart attack overtime win in 2021 in Lincoln.

Let's keep that dominance going.

If Shannon is on like he was in the 2nd half of O. State, we win. He makes everyone else so much better. If this team can put it ALL together before the BTT and stay healthy, I like our chances to win that and make a serious run.

It has been discussed but it is pretty wild how drastically worse Nebraska plays on the road. Not only are they 0-5 in Big Ten road games, but four of the five were by double digits. The only loss that was single digits was at Rutgers, but in that game they gave up 87 points, which is the most points Rutgers has scored all season.

And their home schedule has actually been much harder than their road schedule.

Home opponents: Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue, Northwestern, Ohio State
Road opponents: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Rutgers, Maryland

Nebraska PPG at home in the Big 10 - 81.8
Opponent PPG on the road vs Nebraska - 70

Nebraska PPG on the road in the Big 10 - 69.2
Opponent PPG at home vs Nebraska - 83.6

Nebraska beats Wisconsin tonight, loses to us Sunday.
This would really be huge for us. If we are a team capable of winning big in March and/or competing for a Big Ten title and we really believe we are beginning to "re-gel" with TSJ back to form, then there are a lot of games we can win on the schedule remaining. If the following results happen the rest of the week in the Big Ten...

Nebraska over Wisconsin tonight
Iowa over Ohio State tomorrow night
Indiana over Penn State on Saturday
Northwestern over Minnesota on Saturday (this one MIGHT be close, though...)
Michigan over Rutgers on Saturday (or the other way, who cares? LOL)
Michigan State over Maryland on Saturday
Wisconsin over Purdue on Sunday (I still think Bucky trips up again)
Illinois over Nebraska on Sunday (woohoo!)

... we'd be looking at these standings on Monday:

Wisconsin: 9-2
Purdue: 9-3
Illinois: 8-3
----------------
Northwestern: 7-4
Nebraska: 7-5
----------------
Michigan State: 6-5
Indiana: 6-5
----------------
Iowa: 5-6
Maryland: 5-6
Minnesota: 4-6
Penn State: 4-7
----------------
Ohio State: 3-8
Michigan: 3-8
Rutgers: 2-8

Moral of the story? Not sure if Wisconsin or Purdue on Sunday REALLY matters that much, but if Wisconsin loses to Nebraska tonight and we beat Nebraska Sunday ... it's game on for this title race.

It would be awesome if Wisconsin loses @ Nebraska. I don't know how the Badgers do it but they've been winning those type of games.

I think Illinois has to take care of business in 7 games we are favored - Nebraska, @MSU. Michigan, @Md, @ PSU, Iowa. Minn,
Hope we can steal a win in other 3 - Purdue, @Wisconsin, @Iowa

15-5 conf record may get us a tie for 1st in B10
but more importantly 23-7 probably gets us a NCAA 3 or 4 seed (assuming we don't lose 1st round in BTT)
This is my best case scenario. I just don't see us beating Zack Edy. He is 7-0 vs Illini

We will have to play a lot better than we have the last 2 home games. Huskers are pretty good. If the Illini come out sleep walking like they have it will be a long Sunday!

Nebraska isn't good on the road at all

I was in the front row of section B20. That was an insanely loud game. I actually won the tickets from a statewide Circuit City drawing😲 The Ohio State game in 2022 was even louder when Underwood was ejected, riling up the crowd as he walked off. Then it got as loud as possible when Hawkins did an amazing steal/dunk combo. If only Plummer shot a 3 at the end instead of that mess that happened🤷‍♂️
I was in front row of C14. I'll never forget the atmosphere of that game. But the best part about it was, it was the first game that I took my daughter to. She was 4 years old at the time. Her eyes were lit up so much and she had the biggest smile on her face the whole time. She had a blast and her love for the Illini began that night!!!

It's unfortunate that most of her fandom has seen mediocre to downright terrible seasons since then. Up until the 19-20 season anyway :illinois:
