This is another really late one for us east coasters...especially for a teacher that gets up at 5:15am. I hope to be energized by a win...that will get me through the day.
I have a student in one of my mythology classes whose parents are Illinois grads and he is very into the Illini himself. It's fun to hear his take on the games. I also share some of the info and insight I get from you all, which is fun to pass on to a new generation. Both of us have been talking about this game for a while; his parents are from Chicago.
With fans all over, someone is going to be unhappy with every early/late start. The 11am CT start the other day cost me hours of sleep.

Did anyone else find it odd last night that the players and coaching stuff just let Dain lay there on the floor, writhing in pain without paying any mind to him? That was a big man taking a big fall. Surprised they even let him play a few more minutes after that as the dude was clearly uncomfortable out there.
I found it very odd. I mentioned it to my wife, then rewound and confirmed. Was even more shocked when they left him in. Maybe it's a "rub some dirt on it" response, but it wasn't a very good look.

Let me tell you that was a really uncomfortable moment in the arena. Many people were commenting on why they just left him laying there. Is there some rule about why team personnel cant come on the floor? When Garcia went down a trainer was out there pretty quick after the whistle blew. Its not the first time I've noticed that happening when an Illinois player goes down.

Dain gave us 9 and 9 last time vs NW with 3 blocks. Yes he had 2 TOs, but his average is 1.7.....
Or am i misunderstanding and this defense they play is new?

This match up is going to be different than the first

Look at the starting line ups for us Epps is now our PG instead of Skyy. He now has some experience. Harris won’t start this game but will bring energy off the bench. Also Ty only had 2 minutes. BU has transformed the playing style of the game

We have to play smarter foul wise and not be called for 29 fouls leading to 40 free throws

Photograph by Matthew Brady, although it is not widely known, he was the father of digital photography
All we know for sure is that the image was made on the Illinois prairie, in the 1700's (18th century). Since Brady was born in the 1820's, it seems unlikely that he did it, despite his pioneering (yet largely unpublicized) work in digital photography, and acknowledging that the fact that time travel hasn't been perfected YET doesn't preclude the possibility). An alternate hypothesis: the image was created in the 1700's by someone using Vermeer's secret camera obscura technique from the late 1600's.

, dude improves every game out. His free throws look so much better than earlier this season, still work to do tho. I say feed the beast and get out the way!

What's our record in Q1 games?
Torvik has us as a 3 point favorite. Definitely winnable on paper.
On paper Illini should have beat N.W., Maryland too but unfortunately it is played on the court. Illinois at home should be the favorite. But this is their 3rd game in 6 days, in past that hasn't fared well for the Illini. Hopefully they come out and are ready.

its all about shooting
NW is making a decent % of their shots

us? not so much

if it comes down to 6 points, we lose
we need to win by 9 or more to have a decent shot

I can concur. I was also there last night. Very awkward moment(s).

You apparently live a very different life from me. There is no time zone in the US in which I would not be awake at 11 am CT except Guam (or similar Pacific islands). Unless you are in Europe/Asia and it made you stay up late?

Don’t know for sure, but since they were reviewing the play, Dain probably told his teammates to give him some time so he wouldn’t have to come out.

Guam will mess your sports schedule up. Nothing like watching Monday night foot ball during lunch on Tuesday

The best time zone for sports has to be mountain.

East coast I can’t stay up for games that start after 9

West coast it was too hard to get home in time for early games plus college football starts way too early

Central is not bad

Can’t be Matthew. I did the google. His date of birth was 1822-1824 ( hats off to Mom on that delivery) which is at least 24 years after the picture was taken. Maybe his parents took it.

Want Mich St to beat IU. Then we beat NW and put us in the top 4 in the BT.
Okay, but I'd prefer to say #3 in the BT, or, more correctly, tied for #3. This is also more accurate if Maryland or Iowa wins on Wednesday.

In general, pretty darn good considering that 0-3 start and the 2nd loss to Penn St.

And to actually do that, we must stop both Boo Buie (who managed 15 pts on us with just 2-13 shooting in Evanston) and Chase Audige (who killed us for 21 pts in Evanston).
