Every game should be an Orange Out unless stated otherwise.
Agreed, but the literally THOUSANDS of fans who show up in navy or especially gray (🤮) should feel even worse if they’re selfish enough to do it for this one.

But also … why the hell was this the Orange Out instead of Michigan or even Indiana or even Wisconsin??

How much more evidence do we need? Morez Johnson had literally signed a new NIL deal with us when Michigan came knocking.

We are the team that other teams circle from here on out.

Why are we talking about MSU in the Purple Kitties thread? Better not lose focus. This is their National Chicagoship.
Because this Illinois team is awesome and will be 20 point favorites tomorrow and should handle Northwestern with little to no issues. And the MSU game coming up is a much more fun matchup to talk about.

And I think Illinois will be ok if a few crusty dork fans on the internet (myself included) lose focus in a pre-game thread.

Was curious whether the facts bear this out, and AI says it is true that MSU shoots better in the second half of home games than in the first half. Also true for each of the individual seasons (last two plus this season to date) reviewed.

Overall 3-Year Home Average (approximate, based on box-score aggregation)
  • MSU: 45–47% in 1H → 50–52% in 2H.
  • Opponents: 39–40% in 1H → 37–38% in 2H.
Maybe need to check the rims at Breslin.... Or just tell Keaton, Jake and crew to swish them all that game.

I mean, is he wrong? MSU has that reputation, and rightfully so. We’ve seen it for ourselves.
The conference needs to get involved with MSU. Not ok to keep playing the way they do. Alan Griffen got suspended two games for stepping on a guy. If the tripping by Fears isn’t enough for at least a reprimand, the accumulative number of his dirty plays should be.

(I acknowledge I am very bitter still about how Sissiko played a few years ago).

agree - but can all of them do their retribution without getting noticed and/or control themselves and not retaliate?
Fears and Izzo will get referee protection that our guys will not. Tell me to adjust my tinfoil hat, fine, but it is so.

You need to look no further than the recent league snubs on Keaton (co- when it should have been solo, FOTW when it should have been POTW), etc. The league and the officials love (or fear, but same thing in the end) Izzo. Much as I dislike Michigan, that parody video above was correct, there were multiple trips by Fears in that game with no calls.

Your tinfoil hat appears to be securely on and rightfully so. Izzo (and thus Sparty) gets the BotD way more than any other coach in the conference. They always are on the borderline of tough/dirty, and it seems they get punished way less often than warranted.

It’s not always been the case. But then again, Edey got more preferred whistles than most B1G players that I can recall.

Side note: Pretty sure this would be appealed and upgraded to a flagrant 1 on Edey under the current rules… as it should’ve been back then.

This notion that grabbing a player is some magical extra kind of foul than pushing a player that requires the game to stop and a legal seminar to take place is a cancer on the sport.

And by the way, the idea that this is uniquely injury causing is and has always been 100% a canard and a pretext. This has become a replay review parade because the referees complained that these fouls are difficult to see. Too bad!
