I feel like we are rushing 3 a lot more this year. You don’t want to give up the big play but you also don’t want to make it to easy for Jeremiah smith and Tate.
Rushing 3 and giving Sayin endless time in the pocket WILL make it easy for Smith and Tate.

OSU doesn’t want to play a ranked Illinois team! Seriously though that a pretty incredible stat.

In those wonderful Mike White years competing with tOSU and beating them was common. I remember in 1983 when the boys’ backs were against the wall, it took two graduate assistants to carry in the enormous ‘big play book’. As they struggled to turn the pages, coach White found the play he was looking for on page 32 - a handoff to Thomas Rooks for a TD. They may need to use the ‘big play book’ this Saturday to secure a victory.
Actually, i always thought that was an audible by Trudeau.

If we could just find the Citrus Bowl gameplan again. Gave up yards but it was mostly between the 20's. We made the key stops when needed. The key that day is we got a little more out of our front 4. I'd like to see Jacas deployed as a wildcard in terms of where he lines up & just try to turn him loose. Put him left side, right side, middle & let him attack from different angles. I'm sure we've done some of that kind of stuff. Either that or some stunts or delay blitzes to change up the look & give the front four a chance to get more pressure.

If the front four can get heat on the QB it looks like an entirely different defense. One of the universal truths of football. Every good defense has a strong front four.
We need to send 4 with moving Gabe all over the line to give OSU a different look. We get any kind of pressure on Sayin and we have a legitimate chance with our offense.

Defense starts clicking …

Luke Altmyer shows he’s not only the best QB in the Big Ten … He’s one of the best in the country …

The boy from Rochester shows up on the biggest stage …

Bowick scoring ? Book it … That man lives in the end zone …

Calil Valentine … Certified RB1 …

David Olano … For the win … 😎

Illinois - 31
Ohio State - 28

It’s possible. They have yet to play a offense as good as ours is. Defense needs to tighten up by not missing tackles and making better angles to make tackles. I hope Henry dials up a defense that will confuse the young QB.

That 2001 game is a personal favorite of mine. OSU a week later would go to the Big House to beat Meatchicken & give us the outright title.

OSU really could not stop Kittner & the crew that day. OSU outgained us slightly but a late Ty Myers pick six sealed the game.

Vibes are always good. Lot of excitement in the building but the boys know what’s in front of them and what they have to do.
I have now doubt this is the case, but it would be so awesome for the defense to come out with their hair on fire and with something to prove. I have to imagine it pisses a D1 athlete off if they know their "unit" of the team is perceived as a weakness. It would be an absolutely monumental statement for them to come out and play a long-awaited exceptional game vs. #1 Ohio State and truly give this offense a chance to pull off the upset!!

I also like 1999: Unranked Illini 46 - #25 OSU 20 in Columbus.

As Bill Murray noted in Groundhog Day: "THAT was a pretty good day! Why couldn't I live THAT day over and over and over again."

I was at my nephew's christening that afternoon and almost fell off my chair when my brother told me the score.

Here is ESPN's latest take..I am surprised frankly that the line is moving in our favor since the lines were originally set..

Everybody’s feeling it…the temps are cooling, the players are loose, the orange out uni’s are looking DAMN good. ESPN knows. America knows.

If you weren’t riding with us at +15.5 don’t you come knocking at +14.5.

That is a valid opinion, but I think the more relevant question is do we have anything as special, let alone more special?? I think the sad answer is no! As I also said, we have made the bewildering decision to not get within 100 yards of the Memorial Stadium/"Fighting Illini" military connection since the Chief was retired, and the result has been a predictably "soulless" feel to our sports brand. It's not difficult at all to imagine a "can't miss" pregame ceremony of sorts where veterans and current military are honored every halftime at Memorial Stadium through a really cool and reverent ceremony that involves something like a firing of rifles at the end or something. Thank God that "Illini" and especially "Fighting Illini" are just objectively badass names, as they help this not be too bad!

I'm not trying to knock our beloved Illini, by the way ... everyone here, alum or not, bleeds orange and blue. We love the team and school, and we will never apologize for that! However, there is objective value in having other people think our brand is cool. Even people who hate the Cubs often have great things to say about their trips to Wrigley ... Memorial Stadium could and SHOULD enjoy at least a fraction of that reputation, given how unique and historic it is. We need something that promotes that a lot better, whether it's the Three-in-One or something else (assuming, almost certainly correctly, that a return of the Chief is just simply impossible). The sad truth is that we have the tools (i.e., the stadium and its backstory, plus now a good program!!), and yet it often seems people feel our gameday experience lacks "vibe." That is our fault
What does Gies want? You drop $100M, you probably have a say. 1. go back to grass - paint the chief on the 50 while you're at it. 2. If Univ won't do it, fan dress up as chief and come out of a random seat gate during 3/1. 3. Any SEC band playbook during each down - stop blaring music out of load speakers. I lost my hearing at Duke this year, speakers were insane. 4. Fan attitude - wake up illini nation. 5. Student section - stick around for the entire game.
