Wow, that must be one heck of a system. I mean, how much time did the 3 starting freshmen for Maryland have to learn Turgeon's system? Clearly Groce's "system" must be far superior.

If we have players that have been with the team as long as the Illini players have and they still can't or don't play the system, I don't think we're going to find a way to convince the NCAA to allow players to hang around for 7 years.

I say give the freshmen their capes, teach them to shout olé as their man drives by them towards the rim and they're good to go in the Groce defensive "system".

Man, you're en fuego!

But, seriously, what the heck does Groce have to lose? Didn't play the subs enough in the non-con, doesn't trust the new/newer guys, but sticks with the heavy minutes guys even when they're failing.

Not privy to practices, not a shrink and not going to surmise what's going in Groce's cabeza, but he's mismanaged playing time. Glaringly, WRT TJL.

The fragility of this team is pretty astounding, considering how experienced they are.

Great question...,horrible reaction. He gets paid a lot of money to lead this program. Show some accountability and don't dismiss the fact that your time here has been a utter failure on the court.

I thought he handled it ok. It's tough fielding questions like that when your team just laid an egg and you're scratching your head. I like Groce, but he needs to figure it out fast.

Just got an email today for Traditions Club tickets, free drinks until tipoff!

I was in the traditions club for the NC State game. The food is good and there is pretty good beer selection and decent liquor from the looks of it (we didn't get free drinks prior to tip, though - so be careful about that). The seats are great.

As a note, there is a special lower level entrance that allows you into the club before the general admission doors open (I think it's 90 mins prior to tip as opposed to 60 for GA). You cannot get in without using that entrance.

If you can get them at a good price, I would absolutely recommend those tickets for anyone.

Free alcoholic beverages starting 90 minutes before the game until tip??!! Is this for real?

Yes, this is for real! I just received a response from SFC staff saying they are doing that special for the new year.

Thanks Billy Bob - without that post I probably wouldn't have found out until it was too late - see you there at 4:30!

PS - Disregard my private message BB.

Just look better. I'll be mad if we lose, but I'll be more mad if we don't look better. Does that make any sense?

I usually root for my conference against all others, but seeing tOSU get trounced yesterday was fun. I am looking for the one-two punch today. tOSU fans need to be humbled.

Groce has never had his teams "ready" to play! Never any in-game adjustments! Sub patterns leave us all questionining!!Legit freshman point guard plays behind Abrams, Tate? Why do we even discuss Illini basketball anymore? Groce is lost!! Ohio ST 78 Ill 65! Groce will be proud of his guys, " they really competed" and" OSU played fantastic, guards are great, very talented team!" Its like "groundhog day" Makes a whole lot of money for doing an extremely sub-par job!!

Couldn't have said it better.

Just "looking better" versus a team you should beat at home is setting the bar kinda low. Illinois should win this game. I think this year is a rare year in that Illinois could run the table at home. ( I know it's asking a lot.) There are no invincible teams in conference. Road wins will be hard to come by(for the Illini).

You guys remember when that wasn't rare at all? What was it, 33 in a row from '04 to '06? Something like 67-4 at home over a five year stretch? I'm going off the top of my head, so I could be way off on the latter stat. Nevertheless, I just like to remind everyone periodically that Illinois is one of the greatest programs in the history of NCAA basketball. The past decade is a severe aberration.

I agree. I just mean if we win, but it's ugly and we just look like the better of 2 bad teams I'm not going to be too thrilled with the W. This team is too old to look unprepared and disinterested
