You know what, IL can do very, very well IF (BIG, huge IF) they play the way they played against MI and MD. I, for one, will take on even the mighty tOSU. At their place.

Need to attack the rim. Kofi!!!!

Ducking for cover.

Sounds like they really struggle offensively - averaging 61.8 points on 39.3 percent shooting including 27.8 percent from three.

Very guard oriented with one shot blocker to roam...if they are off, they score low. Sound familiar though up until now?

Nice recovery vs. Michigan! The two previous games were gut-wrenching in their own unique ways....and I had to suffer through the Miami game in-person. Can't recall the last time we were down 27 points at home. 1970's?

If anybody is curious, like me, and wanted to see some gameplay action I stumbled across this video lastnight.

It is the recent game against VCU, in full. I wanted a visual of these guys and this is about as clear a vision I can find.

Underwood: On to the next. Looking back at the Michigan game, thought it was a game we accomplished what we wanted to defensively. Da'Monte Williams was incredible against Livers. By far and away, our highest grade-out.

Underwood: Old Dominion is an NCAA tournament team from last year. 8 of top 10 guys are back. Elite team defensively. Active hands. Very athletic. They're a hard team to score against.

Underwood: They're very good at defensive rebounding, which will challenge our offensive rebounding. They're coming off their best game, from what I've seen on film. Took VCU down to the wire.

Underwood on three-point shooting: We're going to be a good shooting team. Alan got a couple really good looks the other night. He's an elite shooter. I like the balance we have (twos & threes). I'll take efficiency, no matter where the looks come from.

Underwood: We undid Tevian's leave at a tough time in Big Ten play. We have an opportunity here to let him earn his minutes through quality practice time.

Underwood: The things we have done defensively have to carry over, no matter how we shoot or who we play.

Underwood on Tevian Jones & on-court chemistry: One of the big challenges this next week is to get him in with the core guys. He's been an unbelievable scout team player.

Let us enjoy Kofi while we've got the big guy.

I visited Michigan forum, and their posters agreed he was a monster - a monster who can sink free throws! Block shots, score. Complete package! But they thought he got away with some fouls. Michigan, like us, blames the loss on the refs.

Sure hope ref is all right after that slam-dunk on his cranium.

The reason there's hope, obviously, this year, is Kofi. Let us not forget the contributions of the rest of the team. But if the team could shoot, the Michigan game would have been a blowout for the ILLINI. Something akin to ILL-Wake Forest way back.

So far, Kofi has been surprisingly good at not fouling. And I would say that many times he has been fouled and there were no calls because his size and strength minimized the effect.

Yeah, but doesn't BU know he doesn't score enough to warrant any minutes. /s

I am sure I heard BU said it was about focus on the classroom. I'm sorry if I heard that incorrectly.

Also, I was looking on KenPom for Old Dominion and was confident about tomorrow seeing them at 184. However, I looked at the two teams directly below them and quickly that feeling subsided.

Vegas says Illini -15
Feels right if it’s the Monarchs.
if we’re playing the country group, we’re favored by 60.
if it’s Truckers we’re favored by 116.
We still turn the ball over 5 times on inbounds plays regardless of the opponent.

Let me clarify: a lot of us blame losses on the refs. Some Michigan posters did. Natural. But Illini slaughtered Michigan in the paint.

Kofi played cleanly. What a force he is; the refs let him play (just like that May guy in 2005 championship).

I look forward to watching Kofi, Giorgi and Illini later today versus Old Dominion (love that name).

In my opinion, basketball may be the hardest game to officiate.

By the way, UM posters were generous and very civilized. Hats off to them.

Really rooting for Tev to figure it out. Hopefully a lot of tough love from his teammates and coaches will motivate him appropriately.
Looking for him to get a little tick today.
