Also, Iowa and Nebraska don't have professional sports to distract from their Universities' athletic programs..
I don’t buy this for Downstate fans (a population 2 million more than Iowa’s and over twice as big as Nebraska’s!), though … I lived in Iowa City for years, it’s not like people aren’t huge fans of MLB and NFL teams.

Regardless, let’s get the W today!

Rosh Hashanah
If Rosh Hashanah is impacting attendance significantly then the ticket pricing strategy is even more messed up. A marketer needs to know its customer. The 11 am kickoff doesn't help especially combined with the 2 night minimum stay requirement for local hotels.

How are you measuring that?

What percentage of illinois is within 2 hours of a professional sports team? 80 to 90 I'd guess.

Iowa is probably 0

drawing lots of fans into seats all comes down to playing good fundamental football and winning more games than you lose

that’s all

if we do that for 4-5 years we will sell out every game

Look, I don’t disagree … what I’m saying is that the DIA can’t ACTUALLY control that, but they can do everything possible to market Memorial Stadium as an atmosphere in and of itself. And that will keep our attendance FLOOR higher. It’s not like we have some generic stadium, it’s historic and unique!
