They allowed Tomi to play with strep and then mono. They let DGL and others play with influenza. Forgive me if I don't have the greatest level of faith in the staff's medical decision-making.
I understand the concern and the historical data points.

I think if you’re asking for any player to be 100% before setting foot on the floor you’re going to be highly disappointed, especially at this point of the season. Everyone players injured to some extent.

The key is weighing risk of reinjury. Tomi’s ankle seems fine now. As does KJs forearm. Illnesses are another animal. I do agree hindsight lends itself to not playing Tomi immediately after mono but I get a sense they use the players opinion in those situations heavily.

let me know how many guys have played hurt and reinjured something. I don’t think that list is long.

Kids play with the flu all the time...strep too once antibiotics kick in. The problem with mono and strep at the same time is that it the strep is the main presenting problem so docs just provide medicine for that then once they realize it isn't getting better the go back and look for other stuff

I've also seen multiple instances this winter of friends and family, including my own kid, who initially tested negative for flu and then later positive, or had others in their family test positive with the same symptoms after they tested negative. It happens. My kid tested positive for strep, neg for flu, and then when his fever didn't go down after 2 days on antibiotics, re-tested and was positive for flu.

Ah, Unofficial. My youngest brother still never lets me forget that I scheduled my wedding the weekend of his first Unofficial when he attended Illinois. There's a part of me that wonders if he stuck around for an extra year to get his master's degree because he felt cheated out of all four years' of undergrad for Unofficial.

It really amazes me that people think Morez will be back soon. The dude “fractured his wrist”. This is MINIMUM 4-6 weeks of healing. Bone heals at this speed and there is NOTHING Fletch or anyone can do to speed the body’s natural healing process up. Today marks 2.5 weeks from fracture, about the halfway point of recovery. Then he will need WEEKS of physical therapy to regain ROM and strength. I’m sticking with E8 weekend as his return date.

Bill Self loved the high low at Illinois. His last season he had Cook and Augustine run it all the time and it worked beautifully.
Lebron and Luca are doing it with Lakers (4 out, Lebron flashing to low post)

I am aware that it happens. That doesn't mean it should happen. This year is a pretty good example of what can happen when you let a communicable disease have free reign over your locker room.

I can't imagine KJ or Will doing it - at that point you need to rename the ceremony. But if it's just Ben, it probably gets booed. XD My guess is no ceremony.

Brian Barnhart: "Jakucionis with the ball at the top of the key, dribbles to his right—he's sizing up his defender—OH! A quick stepback, and he’s wide open! No hesitation—he grabs a Publix Chicken Tender Sub, takes a bite, and WOW! That’s some crispy, clutch flavor right there! What a move by KJ, not just on the court, but in the kitchen! A perfect blend of finesse and flavor—just like we like it!"

Deon Thomas: "Oh, you know, Brian, that's a textbook stepback right there—smooth, decisive, and with the perfect amount of space. But what really stands out to me is his confidence—he doesn't just stop at hitting a jumper, he’s got the savvy to grab a sub mid-game. That’s what I call next-level composure. That’s not just a play on the court; it’s a play for the taste buds! You can’t teach that kind of precision."

Unofficial will always be the greatest made up holiday ever imagined, in my opinion. An excuse to get hammered on the Friday before spring break starts? The whole student body is drunk and partying? Usually coinciding with Engineering Open House so there tons of high school kids with their parents innocently wandering around campus?

Count me in.
Presenting at EOH while everyone else was having fun... Yeah, that just about sums up my memory of Unofficial. Well that and free Zorba's, which in fairness did make everything better.

KN will have his hands full on Friwith Smith. State Farm needs to go crazy Friday. Watch the film what Auburn did to Pu. Gosh we scored 62 against Mi. You hit shots and rebound you win.
The rebounding was really the key. Latulip did a great job pointing out the preparation during each shot and how it affected their shot of getting the ball.

Too many times we take these iffy three-pointers when no one is prepared to rebound, and those just end up being empty possessions. Change that, and we can go on a major run.

Once, when I was in my late 20's, I was so sick with the flu that I went to the ER. I had to stay with my parents for a week recovering. Since that time, I have never missed getting a flu shot again. I learned from that terrible experience and have never had to repeat it. I would hope that might be a consideration for some of the returning players next year and in the future since most of them felt really awful and it almost certainly cost us some games.

Question for locals...if we head to Papa Del's for a pregame meal on Friday, how crazy busy will it be? Like do we need to be there before 5:00? Any help would be much appreciated!

I thought that was a prescription at first and thought what in the world has KJ contracted now.
