Purdue is in a bad spot. ILL just lost to PSU. Then a bye week AND a huge revenge situation. Last year good ol' Ryan Walters decided to call the def plays in the 2nd half last year vs our Illini to try to beat us down. This will not be close and I'll be betting IL plus the points no matter what the spread is. Trust me. Bielema is more pissed than most people realize. Karma is only 10 days away. BTW - Wisc....feel free to physically pound them into the ground so they are good and sore coming into the game (as much as I don't like WIS....this Purdue/Ryan Walters situation is on a different level).
You're absolutely right. Bielema really hates Purdue. The Peoria Charter bus kerfuffle tells you as much.

If we get up big on Purdont, he will run up the score.

Always mildly amusing (but totally understandable) on days with an 11 a.m., kickoff. By the fourth quarter the east upper deck is baking. The light stands cast a shadow on the south end of the upper deck. A cluster of fans are all bunched up and sitting in that narrow shadow!
And they migrate as the shadow moves!

This is not last year’s Purdue team nor last year’s Illinois.
True but it seems some way, somehow, Purdue comes up with a herculean effort in the trenches to beat Illinois. PU can't repeat it again, it's only vs. Illinois :cautious: 🖕.

Anyway and any score will be a good win vs. PU. 🤞

I missed the memo on that one; as well.
There was discussion on this a couple months ago, I don't recall the exact thread but you may be able to search and find it.

Others will disagree, but if all the smoke was true then not a great look IMO. Can't fault a company for trying to develop new business UNLESS we had an exclusivity agreement with them. If we did then never mind.

As I remember there were some (insiders?) who felt Bret was in the right so perhaps there is more to the story. But on the face, punishing an Illinois company for taking Indiana work, then hiring an Iowa company to serve Illinois seems odd.

I agree, there must be more to it that we don't know. I am not freaking out about it, but at face value it's hard to fault a company from finding customers unless there was some exclusivity agreement.

we only used bus charters for games with NW, Purdue & IU, correct ?!

And what’s the point of exclusivity? If your carrier finds more business to burden their fleet, it helps to hold costs down for everybody. We don’t expect exclusivity from suppliers of equipment, apparel, food/drinks, airlines, etc. Why charter coaches?

It's tough for me to understand the benefit of exclusivity for a company that is providing a service as far from proprietary as transportation.

There has to be more to the story, we only ever heard Peoria Charter's side.

$$$$$. Lower cost if you go with an exclusive supplier.
Actually it’s the opposite because you restrict your provider’s ability to burden his assets. Imagine what you’d pay for the privilege of having an exclusive airline, preventing them from carrying other teams. I’m sure you could negotiate such an agreement, but you’d pay dearly for it.

So why do believe IL and (I would assume most other athletic programs) would seek out exclusivity?

I suppose to avoid the scenario where the supplier's fully-utilized assets are unavailable to you but are available to a competitor.

"Hey Peoria Charter, this is Illinois and we need a bus."

Green light, all is well: "No problem, we have one available."

Yellow light, annoying but somewhat understandable: "So sorry, there has been an accident and we don't have a bus right now."

Red light, unacceptable: "Sorry, no buses available, Coach Walters is using them."

Primarily the ability to have guaranteed travel on demand with short notice (this is highly important to major programs...allows travel flexibility). I mean sure, you can probably get some pricing discount if you were traveling on a very large scale. However, cheapest pricing is not the primary reason for these agreements (from the buying side).

With such competition available and an everchanging environment for travel, these exclusivity agreements might slowly go away.
