Those are the keywords, right there. I have a hard time believing Orton would've turned it over 6 TIMES! The announcers joked throughout the season if it'd be "good Rex" or "bad Rex". We got "terrible Rex" in the SB. Yet again, his STATED #1 goal was to beat GB. Why have a goal if you don't follow through? Either way, he's a horrible coach and I'm glad he's gone.
Bring back sexy rexy !

Darrell Hazell went 3-24 in the Big Ten, with two of the three wins coming in Champaign.

Hazell won more Illinois-Purdue games at Memorial Stadium than Zook, Beckman, Cubit, Lovie and Bielema combined.
Thanks, that's literally the most depressing thing I have ever heard. :ROFLMAO:

Semi-OT, but as someone who was in junior high when Eric Gordon flipped his commitment, I grew up to H-A-T-E Indiana and easily view them as our biggest rival. Combine that with how horrible Purdue was in basketball during my first years as a fan (some might forget this, but from 2001-2006, they were 82-98 overall and 34-62 in the Big Ten while we were completely dominating the league...), and I not only never had much animosity for Purdue ... I viewed them as a friendly neighbor that hated Indiana even more than we did! Then the Weber/Keady relationship seemed to even further solidify that.

However, I dragged my wife down to Champaign in 2022 to sit in 20-something weather (it literally started snowing) to watch Purdue ruin our hopes of a Big Ten West title, all the while their fan section and band echoed off of the East Balcony overhang and was louder than our student section and band. Safe to say, I developed quite the distaste for them that day, haha. For a school that I see as a "mostly alumni fan base," they were also surprisingly trashy.

Why you gotta bring that up? I certainly don't need inducements to begin drinking immediately after lunch!

To be fair, we kept Hazell's teams company in the BT cellar.

Being as though we aren't playing in the Early Morning Rain If You Could Read My Mind it would tell you I think we will run over them faster than a Canadian Railroad.
Illinois Central baby!!!! Currently known as Canadian National (CN).

Line is -24 Illinois now
Something's up

A line zooming away from the open on Monday is one thing, but this is very late breaking.

Looks like Hudson Card is out against Illinois.
Ah, yup, this explains the line movement.

(They might be better off without Card the way they've been playing)

Very true. It is hard to score less points than they already are with Card playing.

Purdue is a very dysfunctional team right now, let's continue that trend.

Always remember any team can beat any team on any given Saturday. Just ask Ole Miss, Alabama, or other teams. I don’t believe Pu will beat us. Their dapper is down. Has Walter’s lost his team? They don’t look good. Punch them in the nose early and often, Go Illini.

Yeah I remember facing a seemingly rock bottom MSU when we were at our peak 2 years ago

A QB change would make a lot of sense for this big of a line movement but haven't seen anything specific.

38 career passing attempts by the Purdue backups. A redshirt freshman (Ryan Browne) has taken all of the non-Card snaps this year (11).

What still haunts me about that game was that the Illini racked up 441 yards of offense and still only mustered 15 points -- 1 turnover and 5 turnover on downs (6 if you include end of game drive). Quite remarkable how often the team stalled on drives that fateful day.

if I remember correctly, it was impossible to kick that day due to wind. Almost every drive was TD or bust

May the gods save us from the headlines Sunday proclaiming a career day for the unsung Purdue redshirt freshman...

Purdue defense looks weak, reminds me of some of Lovie's weak defenses early on. They seem slow, poor tackling, poor reaction, easily blocked.
I think the Illinois offense will pound them with the run or pass, the OC is probably getting twitchy watching this offense. I can see multiple trick plays, Purdue seems vulnerable to them. I would bet the "over", not sure about the "cover".

I still remember our D making a freshman Graham Mertz an early Heismann candidate in 2020 I believe it was. He lived off that one victory for about three years. So, let’s not make Ryan Browne the next Graham Mertz for crying out loud. For the record, I would be shocked if we allow that to happen with the current staff.
