Here’s how I see it:
If Illinois wins the turnover margin by +2, IL wins by 4.
For any turnover less than that, I’ll give Purdue 7.
So:
+2 = win by 4
+1 = lose by 3
0 = lose by 10
-1 = lose by 17
-2 = lose by 24

His argument today was more about Purdue getting an awful big number in terms of how many points they were favored in Vegas.
Not all turnovers are created equal, but I think something like this is fair.
I do think the Illini win a high scoring game here, but I also get the Vegas line. With the state of these 2 defenses, points will come fast. We could easily have a very competitive game that with a TO or few explosive plays late results in 10+ spread. I don’t think Purdue can go Penn State crazy, but I don’t foresee 10 pts being a lot in this game

Every other year, I would agree with you. However, Lovie has had a bit of swagger in all of his interviews this week. I think he feels like this game is the culmination of all his hard work for the past couple of years. I have also heard we kept things simple last week against Rutgers. He has a few tricks up his sleeve.

Drove up from Carbondale to see the game with my dad. We’ll be good and rowdy in section 125!
AJ needs to make better reads, reacts, and throw more accurately this week if we want to win. Can’t beat pu without a little better balance.
