100%. I was shocked at how much his absence impacted us on that end.I'm more interested in TJ as a stopper on defense than an impact on offense right now.

35 + is my uneducated guess...................I know he has to be chompin at the bit's to get back out on the court......Just for fun...I'm putting the over/under on number of minutes TSJ plays at 25.
What say you....
I think it would be just a little disrespectful considering others have stepped up in his absence. They all know he is our star but Luke has earned his spot.I am very surprised he's not starting, but what do I know
I wrote this before I saw the Bret Behrens tweet. Really, I did. Also, it was originally posted to the TSJ reinstated thread. To start or not to start. I believe TSJ will play (and probably play starter's minutes or close to) but I don't think he will start and the reason is a very mundane one. I believe that most teams have certain team rules and one of them is that if you don't make practice(s) you don't start. No excuses (except possibly if one is sick and produces a doctor's note). But he will come off the bench soon enough. Unless, of course, they make this an exception to the rule. Or he files for an injunction against the team rule. Just kidding. However, I would think one of the insiders would have mentioned something about any team rule concerning missing practice that would preclude starting.

I know and agree that players shouldn't get time just to keep them happy. I was just curious about what the issue with DGL was since Moretti is not a great defender either.
And others answered that question.
This is a random question, but does Brad/the players/Josh etc know or read this forum? Obviously can't imagine they care what we are saying, but curious their thoughts on the existence of it lol

Those fantastic UNC....ummm....errr....classes paying off?He just isn't interested enough in the Illini to pay attention or watch any of our games ... he was saying similar stuff last year, with the same "kid giving a book report who obviously hasn't read the book" vibe
I’m 100% sure Luke Goode knows TSJ should start. He’s one of the top 10 players in college basketball if not better than that. Luke will get his minutes.I think it would be just a little disrespectful considering others have stepped up in his absence. They all know he is our star but Luke has earned his spot.
Too much. They'll work him in slowly. They've spent a few weeks now building a nice chemistry to the point where this was still a really good team. Coach isn't going to just tear that up and throw it away. A guy like Goode deserves minutes. Ty deserves to be able to handle the ball more. Harmon has earned minutes. Domask shouldn't have shots taken away.35 + is my uneducated guess...................I know he has to be chompin at the bit's to get back out on the court......
To me the reason he brought Moretti in over DGL is because he’s a point guard and wanted a ball-handler/creator in. When DGL comes in, he rarely plays the point or is the primary ball handler. It's a good question --lot of us were thinking DGL would get some tick. There will be plenty of speculation I'm sure. If mom's not happy, it's gotta be very difficult for DGL to be his own man and decide if he's being treated fairly. If the issue is him improving enough to deserve PT over the guys who are playing, and playing at a high level, that takes a lot of maturity. End of the day, he may feel he needs to be in an offense where they want a scorer, and aren't as concerned as this staff is about efficiency or defense. I think we'd all rather see him develop here --he has a very high level of athleticism and a great ceiling. But if the fit isn't there, I trust the staff when it comes to the roster. Hard to argue with the success they've had --not a lot of misses.
Based on the maturity and connection this team has displayed, my bet is that everyone in the regular rotation knows that TSJ's return will only increase their productivity... Goode, Domask, and Harmon should especially welcome his return since defenses will not be able to account for them nearly as much as they could in his absence.Luke will still play a lot. All the guys understand that he likely is the best wing in the country. It also helps guys not have to play 35 plus minutes every night, which will help in the long run.
Yup. TSJ driving opens up much more wide open shots for those guys as wellBased on the maturity and connection this team has displayed, my bet is that everyone in the regular rotation knows that TSJ's return will only increase their productivity... And he's best on offense during fast breaks and/or wide open 3's and he'll likely get his share of those no matter what offense we run and of course like Kat says above, keeping the other 6's legs fresher.I'm more interested in TJ as a stopper on defense than an impact on offense right now.
