Rest up, CoHawk. Get those legs right because you need to make some 3’s in order to make that bread.

Coleman is currently 14.3% from 3, a career 27.6% 3pt shooter. I'd so much rather see him be more of a presence in the paint.
Coleman has never really been a presence in the paint, which is frustrating because in the few spurts where he has taken it to the hoop assertively, we’ve seen what he’s capable of. But for whatever reason, he’s more comfortable driving halfway to the rim, stopping, then passing. 🫤

And the scouting reports know that and back off of him. Needs to take that ten footer. Would really open up the passing lanes.

well if he's not a presence in the paint, and he's not a threat from the perimeter, then.......

I hope the Illini roundballers learn a big lesson from the Illini footballers for this and future seasons. Please do NOT lose any more close games! Ever! The Illini Nation fan base cannot handle any more of that!

“Comfortable” is not a word I’d use to describe Hawkins on the court.

Is that a high demand skill at the next level??????
It’d be great if Coleman would dial in on the things that got him on mock drafts lists in the first place - play tough defense, crash the glass, sprint the floor and attack/shoot *in the flow* of the offense. With his physical tools & ability to pass, he’d be league bound if he just focused on doing those small things consistently well.

I predict that BU will say Southern is elite.

Good coaches are always trying to build up their opponents in the eyes of his team to get them focused and get their energy up.

The problem is when players begin to tune out that kind of talk after a while and they don’t become motivated like the coach is trying them to be.

Coaching Tip: Change up your pre-game wording to your guys. It's easy! One day your opponent is ‘Elite’. And other days they are...

‘Top Quality’

‘Prime’ or ‘Primo’

‘First Rate’

‘Terrific’

‘One of the best squads... EVER’

‘Choice’

Words that DON'T work:

‘Don’t worry, guys. We are going to beat the crap out of that team. Why, they don’t even belong on the same floor as you guys. Maybe not even the same COUNTY. This game won’t even be scrimmage for you because you guys are already so awesome. In fact, none of you can even improve your game a bit because you are just that terrific already...’
