We probably don’t have the top end talent to take the crown, but top to bottom our roster has as much talent as anyone in the country.No. Not even close.

"Not even close"? Offensively we could certainly be and I'm not sure anyone would be that shocked. The key here is obviously health.No. Not even close.
Google/youtubeTV and Disney going at it over the new contract. So no ESPN on YouTubeTV now. While I agree in the sense that their unprofessional bias gets more obnoxious by the year and is unbearable to listen to ... our conference's networks are dropping the ball big time as far as allowing our premiere basketball programs to get good ratings and exposure. Games on ESPN draw WAY more viewers than FS1 and BTN, and our big three networks are picking up shockingly few cool basketball games.
Wake Forest plays #7 Michigan in Detroit tomorrow, followed by #10 Texas Tech at #17 Illinois ... both games are on FS1. And what is FOX airing? Family Feud during literally both games. What is on NBC? Nightly news, local programming and an NBA game at 8:00 pm. CBS?? Entertainment Tonight, followed by NCIS: Origins.
#13 Arizona and #12 UCLA are playing at a neutral site in LA this Friday on Peacock ... while NBC broadcasts Happy Place, Stumble and then Dateline. Our possibly top 10 matchup with Alabama in our return to the United Center will get a crap rating on FS1 next Wednesday while NBC replays Wicked, FOX broadcasts 99 to Beat and CBS broadcasts Survivor. People act like basketball is just meaningless as far as TV ratings go, but that isn't true when the networks actually prioritize a big matchup. Our game vs. Arkansas last year on CBS had a higher rating than we have literally ever had in a football game, lol. It's really annoying that ESPN is finding a way to CLEARLY prioritize football way more and yet still get their teams they care about on at the very least ESPN2, even on weekdays ... FOX / CBS / NBC need to step it up for our basketball programs.
While I totally agree with you, the broadcasters have a conflict of interest where they want to maximize viewership to sell ad space, but they also want to justify the existence of their cable networks/streaming services. Adding another wrinkle to this- Big Ten Network (majority owned by Fox) owns the media rights to our games and sublicenses them to the other broadcasters. While I agree in the sense that their unprofessional bias gets more obnoxious by the year and is unbearable to listen to ... our conference's networks are dropping the ball big time as far as allowing our premiere basketball programs to get good ratings and exposure. I wonder why they wouldn't do a similar draft for basketball as the networks do for football ... and maybe they do. Either way, I feel like FOX in general is not active enough in the college hoops space, even in January/February/March, and they seem way too content to let cool games fall to FS1.While I totally agree with you, the broadcasters have a conflict of interest where they want to maximize viewership to sell ad space, but they also want to justify the existence of their cable networks/streaming services. My biggest complaint with our media at the moment is the continued existence of B1G+. The other conferences' bonus streaming networks (SECN+, ACCNX, etc.) are part of ESPN+, but ours isn't bundled with anything (not even the recently launched Fox One) and might be the worst value proposition in all of media.
According to Torvik, we're the 10th most talented team in the country. 10 out of 365 is at least a little bit close by most definitions.No. Not even close.
There must be a draft of some kind seeing as how CBS seems to favor certain teams, but the contract is heavily weighted in Fox's favor (BTN included) in terms of total games allocated. If I were to guess how it works- Fox, CBS, and NBC draft games until CBS fills its quota. Then Fox and NBC go back and forth until NBC fills its quota. Fox gets all remaining games.I wonder why they wouldn't do a similar draft for basketball as the networks do for football ... and maybe they do. 10th seems in the reasonable range (and roughly corresponds to our 14 ranking). The OP said (if Petrovic is that good) that we'd be the most talented team in the country. This is the type of observation that we seem to hear almost every year about this time. Others - "If we don't make the FF this year, it's a failure" or "we could go 11 deep and come at them in waves."According to Torvik, we're the 10th most talented team in the country. 10 out of 365 is at least a little bit close by most definitions.
I think that is good news for our backcourt then. This will probably anger some of youbut Tyler raves about Petrovic more than anyone else on the roster
Well, at least it’s not Hamer with the compliment. This will probably anger some of youbut Tyler raves about Petrovic more than anyone else on the roster
Tomi being out is really bumming me out because it comes at such a horrible time, when we have 4 OOC potential Final Four teams on the schedule. If we come out of this upcoming stretch of 7 games at 5-2, I'll be thrilled.
Obviously I'm not alone here. It's just so frustrating.
That's great. We could use another skilled guard. Right now, when Boz or Keaton goes out, there's a huge dropoff. This will probably anger some of youbut Tyler raves about Petrovic more than anyone else on the roster
Tomi being out for a few weeks isn't ideal, but getting Stojakovic and Petrovic back is huge.
This is also why you got Mirkovic and Z.
