This oughta be a great one! Definitely will be tuned in. We are dogs in this one. It will be great to see some of our younger players perform at this level.

Baylor beat Norlfolk State by 17. UCLA is up 32 in the second half.

This weekend will be a challenge.

Yep, and compared to Illini's pretty impressive performance vs. Monmouth tonight, Virginia had better offensive (143.6 vs. Illini 130.9) and defensive (67.7 vs. Illini 82.6) efficiency when they played Monmouth earlier this week.

Wonder about the relative impact of garbage time on those numbers, as both games were blowouts.

First road games are dangerous especially for freshman. Could be some early jitters Friday, but I like our chances against anybody over the course of 40 minutes. Lots of weapons to throw at the opponents.

UCLA looks to match up very well against the Illini on paper — haven’t seen them play yet this year. They do start 2 freshmen — and 2 others see some time at end of rotation — but plenty of veteran leadership. Going to be interesting to see how the new-look Illini play against a group as talented as they are. Also interested in seeing how much the rotation constricts with the games getting tougher.

Virginia's basketball game last night was cancelled due to the campus shooting. They are talking about cancelling the football game this weekend as well. It makes me wonder if they will actually play in the tournament.

Does anyone sit this weekend in order to go from a 9 person rotation to an 8 person rotation? When Goode is able to play?

This is where I am. Given how young/new this group is, we are playing with house money in November games vs. ranked opponents. If we go 2-0, start dreaming big right away! 1-1 is fantastic, and 0-2 hardly lowers the ceiling for this season.

Hope that place is filled with orange to give us a boost!

Exactly!

This is a good time to remind people of the 2021 season. We lost 3 games in December (Baylor, Mizzou, and Rutgers), but kept improving as the season progressed and finished as a 1 seed.

We also beat a Duke team that turned out to be rather mediocre.

Long story short, take these early games with a grain of salt. Regardless of the outcome in Vegas, we should all be very excited to see this young team grow. It's pretty rare to have 9 guys that can be game changers, and hopefully 10 if Goode gets healthy. Very exciting time to be an Illini fan.

Horrific tragedy. I believe the victims were on the football team.

Who knows, but per inside reports we played toe to toe with Kansas in the secret scrimmage.
