Watching those Kofi highlights against Wiscy, man, what a reminder of an incredible player. Unicorn.

Kofi, "I'm going over there next to the rim. You can join me or not, but you can't stop me."
Alos marvel at his fantastic hands. A lot of players can get close to the rim, but aren't good finishers.

Makes me think Morez should watch his games --he's got the aggression and strength to be dominant as well. Or he should get shooting tips from Tomi. I'm good with either ;)

*Feel free to combine with my "EDIT" section of this post, I just ran out of time!*

I do not mean this as a knock on the Champaign fans at all ... they're objectively the most loyal portion and beating heart of our fan base. It was more meant to point out that I am always pleasantly surprised just how active, energetic, engaged, loud and sometimes comically rowdy our traveling fans are away from Champaign. As one example of the rowdy types, it was so hilarious and awesome to see our fans being INTENSE in taking over Vegas two years ago and seeing videos of us parading around the concourse with "I-L-L!" chants. Another is Braggin' Rights ... the two years I went, the Illini fans (and Mizzou fans, to be fair) there were just straight-up having a ball, lol. Drinks were flowing, saw at least two people perform hysterical drunk falls while trying to get over a railing and they are loud all game long. I've seen similarly loud Illini fans for games in Iowa City and Evanston. Not sure if it's just that these chances to see Illinois play are more "special" or unique to those fans so they're more jazzed up, but we need that energy at SFC! I'll do my part this Saturday.
I'm with you, brother.

One data point I noted: I've bought Illini road tickets v. Duke and Michigan this season, and bought Maryland and Rutgers road tickets last year on StubHub and SeatGeek. Each time I do I check out the prices for Illini home games in AH because at some point we'll bite the bullet and make the long pilgrimage to see a home game. Pricing at AH on the secondary markets indicates that fans pay a serious premium to see us in what is a large arena in a relatively sparsely-populated area. A much, much higher premium than I pay at opposing arenas, where home teams enjoy comparable fan fervor, to see our boys. I'm thankful that I'm not an opposing team fan looking for road tickets in AH.

Our fans obviously really want to see the team play. They just need, apparently, to be more extroverted about it once in the arena. Get 'er done, all!

Mrs. Battle89 has wanted me to remodel the basement for years...getting good ideas here but maybe not what she wants!

Nothing too substantive to add here, but MAN is it high time for the House of Paign to return to being a place people fear. We have four home games left, and all are "big games" in one way or another, whether they're vs. good opponents, rivalries or both. UCLA, MSU, Iowa and Purdue. No excuse for SFC not to be rocking every one of those games and for Krush to do its part and live up to the standard set by their peers in the Paint Crew, Izzone, etc.

6 out of our 7 home games vs. major conference opponents have been sold out, with the only one that fell short being vs. PSU. Subjectively, however, I would say our crowds were pretty much like this...

B+ vs. Wisconsin
A- vs. Tennessee
C+ vs. Penn State (no students)
C- vs. USC (no students)
B- vs. Maryland (not much to cheer about, lol...)
B vs. Northwestern
B+ vs. Ohio State (finally saw some "juice" back in the crowd for this one)

Examples of a solid A would be the Purdue home game last March, and examples of a legitimate A+ would be our 2021-22 home games vs. Arizona and OSU (the Brad ejection/Fake Comeback game). We need those types of atmospheres. Good crowds legitimately tip the balance of an even game in the favor of the home team, and we need that down the stretch.

EDIT: One bizarre thing I have noticed over the years is that Illini crowd contingents AWAY from Champaign are often rowdier than those in SFC.

It's not the money issue with Peakcock. It's that the product is garbage and we are forced to use it. You either have to watch the game live, or wait to watch it until the on demand is uploaded way after its completed. The record option is useless as it cuts out at a hard 2 hours. You simply cannot watch the whole game if you record and then start it 30 minutes in.

This feels like a tone setter for the rest of the season. Huge game, have to come out aggressive from the tip and get the win against a red-hot UCLA team.
I like our chances until I heard Tomi's feet were swollen

this was ultra annoying bc we had just went on a little spurt to get the lead back down to 6 (from like 10-12) and they get this gift. The ref then ran into the secondary defender (morez), giving ace a clear like 6 foot shot lol
Somehow some Rutger fans were upset by High Knees on this. He was like a full back lead blocking for Ace!!

If you're complaining about $7 a month for Peacock and paying $150 a month or whatever for cable, idk what to tell you. You can also literally sign up for a year of Peacock for $29.99 right now. That's $2.50 a month.

I just appreciate the fact that I live in 2025 and for a few bucks, I can watch EVERY Illini basketball game with a modest income.
I lived in Maryland in the 1980s and I don’t know if the Baltimore Sun ever used “Illinois” in the sport section. Not only didn’t see it, didn’t get to read about it.

All these folks complaining about dealing with different platforms...

Just get multiple TVs in one room with multiple devices to play multiple platforms like a real sports fan...

I may fire up 2 of em tonight! The 86 for the illini and one of the 55s for the others! Didnt get my stocked beer cooler in the pic, starting happy hour 5-7! ILL!

I was at Rutgers last year. We so loud the TV announcers mentioned it. And you certainly heard ILL/INI on TV during the Minnesota game.

But at the Assembly Hall I feel people looking at me funny if this old man gets loud. And sing? My goodness, must be a freak. Heck, it costs me enough to come to games. I’m going to wallow in the experience. You’ll see us there tonight, a couple of old people wearing Orange, being loud.

haha that too....all the vids of these in the CBB world seem to be looking at it as a 3rd defender......when in reality the dude set screens on both our guys and freed ace up for the shot lol

I mean this as a knock on Orange Krush, they can and should do better. For example, during the OSU game there was just one solo guy jumping up and down. Surely we can do better!

Also, the nuggets for two missed free throws is a huge missed opportunity. Instead nuggets should be awarded for the first time the Illini defense induces a shot clock violation by the opponent. That would ramp up the live game energy.
