I am not sure I understand your point.
I love going to Illini football games. Of course, I want them to win. But I still enjoy the team even during down periods. I think there are thousands of fans like myself.
Fair. I have lived away from Champaign/Illinois for so long I wasn’t really thinking about the tens of thousands of locals who go just for the fun

It seems in spots like this we win about 1 out of 20. Big spot. Need a positive. Home game. Typically those equal a massive turd.

So our injuries in the secondary right now are:
- X. Scott (done for the year?)
- Clarke (hasn’t played yet)
- Patterson (seen on crutches during the game)
- Bailey (hurt in garbage time)
- Cox (hurt in garbage time)

Did I miss anyone? I don’t know how you scheme your way around all or most of these guys being out for this game, especially if the offense is going to leave them out there for 40 minutes.
I don’t think Resetich was able to finish the game.

I keep remembering some line from a ESPN article bout Illinois fans waiting for the anvil to fall following the success of the 2024 season.

We never disappoint.

I don't know what they play to simplify on defense they already play a ton of man coverage.

There's too much to fix, we got complacent despite Bret's valiant attempts to avoid it.

Season isn't over but the next three weeks will spell it out.

No we have a huge national fanbase of pessimistic psychopaths....ILL time to cook a goat!!!!!
Just passing this along. Someone in the Seattle Mariners fanbase bought a curse break spell from an Etsy Witch for $19.99 with discount for $14.99. The Mariners have won 15 of 16 since. Including 3 at division nemesis Houston this weekend.

We keep waiting for the monkey paws to curl but they haven’t yet.

My old ladies an Etsy witch totally didn't even think of bringing spell jars and healing crystals into the mix... Lol I always think of Old Cub curses

We keep talking about our secondary being out or banged up for USCs good passing game but I think USC had around 280 yards rushing on a MSU defense that gave up 67 to BC, 29 to WMU and 97 to YSU. That might end up being the bigger problem.

Lose this game and I fear our season is headed straight for the crapper; win it, and we have a chance to be respectable. There's no way--none--we're a top 25 team.

Well, man coverage is a luxury that you take advantage of when you have the secondary talent that can do it - which we have been spoiled with for awhile. I’m not sure it’s accurate to say it is the easiest defense (and maybe that’s not what you mean). There are more basic things we could do to try to take the pressure off of guys needing to win individual matchups.

Bret will fix this, for the time being. Major changes coming this offseason. I believe that Miller will be out as OL coach. Lunney might and probably will get a HC job. If Lunney goes, he needs to bring in a OC who will open up the offense. We cannot keep this slugging slow developing running game and expect to be successful. Henry is a question mark as we are playing with an injured defense. We got tired on D as the offense could not stay on the field. I am not going to blame Henry as much as I am to blame the OL scheme. We cannot even block 5 on 4. IU was getting penetration rushing 4 and when they did blitz, Luke could not find the hot read. It was a hot mess but Bret will get on them this week amid a better effort will be the result.

When 3 of your starting backfield is out, it makes it harder to run your defense as you like. I still think they are not using Jacas correctly as he needs to be moved all around the line to create pressure. Maybe they are and he just can not break loose. I am hoping to right this loss to IU had something to prove and they came all out and we were just not ready for an all out assault. IU is dynamic, something we are not. Let’s beat USU and right the ship

Probably depends on what Arkansas does with Pittman and if they promote Petrino or not. They may throw money at Lunney regardless?

Regarding this game, I wonder what they can change up on the OL that will help. We should be getting yards with Kaden just falling forward... and we could barely do that.
