Would like to see Mihailo put up big minutes and play more controlled in this one. He’s the last of the rotational players to not at least have a good game.

BU said he's had the game Monday circled on the schule since they cane out.....stressed that our next opponent has a 6'8" player who is a load of a player and very very good.......we shall see in a couple of days if he is or is BU doing some game promotion.....

UTRGV was up by 10 against Missouri State with 4 minutes left tonight, but they ended up losing the game by 7. Must have been quite the collapse.

Mentioned this before, not sure if Illinois has ever played UTRGV but there's a reason for the unlikely pairing - one of their assistants is from Bethany.

From their website -

Yoder started his coaching career in 2011-12 as an assistant coach at Parkland Junior College. Prior to that, Yoder spent three seasons (2008-11) as a student manager at Illinois for Weber, including serving as top manager in 2010-11.

Prior to enrolling at Illinois, Yoder played two seasons at Lake Land Junior College in Matoon, Illinois. Yoder finished his high school career as the all-time leading scorer (1,517 points) at Okaw High School in Bethany, Illinois.

Well....they just played Missouri State in Springfield and were outscored 22-2 in the last 5:19 to lose by 7. If the Illini come to play some defense and rebound, this should be another 40 pt. blowout. Would love to see an attitude from the Illini "if they don't score, they can't win!!". 55 to 0 is fine by me.

As long as we win comfortably, I won't get too hung up on the score here. I just want two things after this game:

(A) To feel like the team has continued to place an emphasis on the issues that plagued us in the 'Bama game, mainly getting defensive stops and free throws.
(B) For the guys to have confidence heading into the UConn game ... not overconfidence, but we have to be feeling like we have a shot to take them down.

So, I hope we cruise to an easy win, but I hope it is done in such a way where we look like a well-oiled machine that is gearing up for a massive test later this week, not a sloppy team that is merely too talented/athletic to lose this one at home. Let's pummel them and go give UConn all we've got!!

I wonder if there is a family connection with former Badger coach Steve Yoder. Or does he have a connection with Yoder's is it in Arthur, Illinois? I have eaten there a couple of times.

Interesting we played them three years in a row in 97-98-99 (when they were Texas Pan American). Thought there must’ve been a connection there. Turns out Lon Kruger’s first head coaching gig was there in the 80s. How bout that.
