I think everything depends on what that game did for VCU. It was a tense, emotional game. VCU had to expend a ton of energy to come back. They had to play an overtime.

I don’t think there is a lot of middle ground. Either VCU is energized by that comeback against a power conference team and they come out like a house ablaze Saturday, or they have nothing left in the tank and are flat from the jump. I think it will be the former, but hope it’s the latter.
I don't think VCU is particularly great. Got some solid pieces at the guard positions and the big man is decent but this feels like the exact same situation as the Duquesne game two years ago. The Illini are much bigger and much more talented. They should not lose on Saturday unless they come out with zero energy and just going through the motions.

UNC just completely collapsed and made mistake after mistake at the end of the game. Not mentally tough/disciplined at all. That homecourt advantage can often times be overrated as we found out last year with the Kentucky game. Glad it's going to be a neutral game with our fans most likely outnumbering VCU's fans.

It might be both, come out like house on fire, 2nd half the legs give out. I think a 65 pt, 2nd half proves we're not an easy guard,

I do think their style of play is one that has given Illinois trouble this season. We’ve struggled with teams that have a lot of athleticism and can swarm defensively. That’s why I’m really interested to see how they come out Saturday. If they don’t have any legs after what they did tonight, that negates their one possible advantage.

Can't ask for anything more than a double-digit seed to make the Sweet Sixteen. No excuses.
I don't care what their seed # is. That team is on fire right now, they're athletic and they have ultra quick guards. They are really good. We've really struggled with that type of team this year.

Speed (VCU) vs strength. Classic matchup. Illini -9.5, not as good as I thought. Crazy. Going across state lines to bet the house on Illini.

Let's be real. These are kids that grow up in an AAU system where it's not uncommon to play 3 or 4 games in a single day.

They go 8 deep and nobody played over 40 minutes tonight. They will be good to go for Saturday and they are a mid major so you know they are going to play hard and with a chip on their shoulder.

I genuinely think UNC would have been a better matchup. VCU isn't necessarily super big but they are athletic and they are physical. The talent advantage is still in favor of the Illini but they are going to need to play tougher than they have over the last month and so far the tourney refs have let have let teams play so Wagler will likely be in for another physical game.
