The Championship game before the consolation game? They know those rankings will be moving come next week, right?

Rankings aren’t everything, especially this early in the season, but they do shape public perception of a team.

Could this next game be worth a 10 spot swing in the rankings?

Win and we’re ~7.
Lose and we’re ~17.

Great early season trip for our team already! A top 10 win will hopefully do wonders for our confidence. Virginia looked really good against Baylor but like I said in the post game thread, we have enough talent to beat anybody this year. We are clearly much more athletic than the last 2 years, and as much as I loved those teams, this one just seems to have something extra. Hoping for a wildly successful tournament and to put the B10 and the nation on notice that this team is one to be reckoned with.

I loved the last two teams, they brought us back to being relevant. But, you can tell this is a different animal. Just the way Brad even talks about it. Gonna be a fun year.

It’s funny, the national media who attended this tournament expected to see a Baylor vs UCLA match up on Sunday.

And they’re still going to get that match up, just in the consolation game instead of the championship game 😉

This crazy ride called Fighting Illini sports...............

remember when we lost all 3 MBB AC's in one short period of time...............................
remember when we suffered through Lazy Lovie FB seasons ............................................
remember when we had a WBB coach with a 6-64 conference record............................

I do..................................................................................................................................................................

now we have...............................

3 new MBB AC's with a will to outwork everyone else............................
an undefeated MBB squad this year with the sky's the limit.................
a 7-3 FB team with already securing a bowl bid...........................
a new coach in WBB with an exciting team undefeated and showing so much promise this year and recruiting well for the future..............

it's humorous how life can deal you a schedule of up's and down's that will defeat some , but not the Illini Nation and the University of Illinois Fighting Illini
I can say and be proud saying I have been a die hard Illini fan for over 60 + years and will die happy saying i was a fanatic of all things O & B............

UVA had a pretty good turnout for the first game. It’s going to be insane. Worries about their height a little with out rebounding. Definitely beatable
