I saw Jacas play in college after Gabe stars in the NFL is kinda fun.

When my wife and I were still just dating, we went to a Northwestern football game (she was working there at the time). I expected nothing but a relaxing day at a MAC cupcake game. It would have been, too, except Miami had this guy named Roethlisberger.

And ND still made the playoffs, they don't need to schedule the top teams to make the playoffs, they'll make it every year with 1 or 2 losses and the strength of their brand.
They get to make it on their historical name, and definitely NOT on their strength of schedule...

I mean they beat Indiana, Georgia and Penn State in the playoff. It's not like they got to the national championship on their "historical name". Let's not check our brains at the door because we hate Notre Dame.

They also got beat by NIU, played Purdon't, Miami (Ohio), Army, Navy, Stanford and Virginia... Not exactly powerhouses... I give them credit when they play similar or greater teams, but their schedule is heavily weighted to avoid that most years... And your derogatory suggestion that I'm brain-dead is disrespectful of one who claims to be an Illini...

A legit 2nd or 3rd best team in college football last year with that schedule.

Truly wasn't trying to take a shot at your personally by any means. More of a general feeling of "I hate this team, so I'm going to ignore facts about them to fit my narrative" type of thing. I apologize. I-L-L

I guess it’s an unpopular opinion, but seeing GIES replace ILLINI above the colonnades is too much.
I wouldn't say unpopular and I wouldn't say anyone "likes it" per se but for us to see Illini consistently in the top 25/and in top half of big 10 standings these are the types of sacrifices we need to make to keep up in the arms race of college football.

Although, there's technically no rule that says if you give more money than God to an institution, you must also insist that your name replace theirs. Maybe it could still say ILLINI in that one spot.
Just saying, and apologies to Larry.
