I'd be tempted to take Wisky and give the points, but maybe they play their second and third string the entire second half and we score a few easy points. As much as Wisconsin runs the ball and Illinois cant stop the run I suspect the spread to be 28
Early Line opens Wisky -24.5
This top 5 team can run the ball averaging 256 yards a game with a solid ground attack. The Badgers will stick to their strength in pounding the ball all day long.
Illinois defense is struggling mightily to stop the run- Rutgers ran wild with 274 yards did I just say Rutgers? I don't see Illinois having any hope to stop Wisky on the ground and they could rush for over 400 yards in this game.
But wait- It is a Homecoming game ! Should be a great crowd for sure.
My prediction is Wisconsin 38 ILLINOIS 10
500 rushing yards and we can't score a touchdown... 56-3
500 rushing yards and we can't score a touchdown... 56-3
One more comment: Do NOT give up on this team and this coaching staff. This is our down year. We're playing an historical number of freshmen. These young players are learning the hard way. But they are learning. And next year and the year after, we're going to get a lot of beautiful payback. So hang in there, all you Illini fans; we are headed in the right direction, but it's going to take some time. This staff knows what they're doing.
Slow, painful loss. Wisconsin will pound the ball, have long, time consuming scoring drives. Score will be lower than expected IMO, not that we will ever really have a chance.
Growing pains.
No guarantee this team is a lot better in a couple years.
Who is the QB? What is the system they are running? The rest of the big ten is not getting worse.

If we find a better QB, that is a bonus.
This isn't a bonus. It is required if we plan on being competitive in the B1G. Hopefully Cam or one of our 2018 recruits develops into a plus QB. Without it, we aren't going anywhere.
Ok...when the great defense and special teams arrive, let us know.I don't know about that. Lovie made a Superbowl with a team featuring Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton at QB - two of the worst QBs to ever lead a team to a Superbowl. Most Lovie teams' identities are predicated on great defense and special teams, running the football/ball control offense. A great QB is not required for that - just one that can make reasonably good decisions and not cause too many turnovers.

Lovie: Whenever you get to play a top-five team, it's special.
Lovie: Hopefully Mike Dudek is back this week.
Lovie: We thought (Cam) did some things and gave us a boost running the football.
Lovie: It's about what you need to do to be successful. JGJ is the better passer. Cam doesn't have entire package yet.
Lovie: Bennett is a good football player. Started at FS, he's intelligent and gets it. His strong suit has been playing the pass.
Lovie: (Wisconsin RB) Taylor is one of the best in the country. But it starts out front (for the Badgers). It'll be a challenge.
Lovie: Most coaches would like to see the balance of (Wisconsin offense).
Lovie: Cam (Thomas) has been working and getting reps. The plan was to get him in quickly, and we did.
Lovie: Our matchups are personnel based. We ran 8-man fronts to stop the run.
Lovie: (Christian) DiLauro played his best ball this week. He played at TE on offense, blocking-wise.
Lovie: Cam has excellent speed, and he has a strong arm. He overthrew Dorsey. Just because we have Cam doesn't mean we're gonna run.
Lovie: We don't go in thinking to redshirt anybody, really. Look at our numbers.
Lovie: In an ideal world and a freshman hasn't played, we'd like to redshirt. But if we need them, they're gonna play.
