I'm feeling optimistic about this week's game against Wisconsin. Mertz is doubtful and their offense has not been clicking. Our offense seems to be finding somewhat of a groove and hoping BP gains some confidence and at the very least find his check downs for short yardage gains.

Our defense will be key again and making sure Wisconsin ground game is contained and cause turnovers.
Do we have to win this game for Austin Brown to flip to us from Wiscy?

Walters' D will hopefully continue their progress...

If we don't start this game with 9 in the box and playing the most gap sure defense I will be sad.

Get there early, start with irish coffee before the open gym for basketball, then coming back to tailgate before football.

Anyone heard what Saturday's expected attendance is? Good forecast, 2:30 p.m. game, Wisky has a good travelling fanbase, I'd expect a pretty significant crowd. Dare I guess 50,000+?

I’ll be pleasantly shocked if we hit 50k. There were estimates last Saturday in the 10-15k range. Yes there was rain possible and ticket sales were 30k. You’d think they would show up for homecoming and Wisconsin but 50 is a big number for us.

It has to be tough to bring recruits to a half full or less stadium and try to sell them on what a great place this is to play their football career.

It was probably 20k last Saturday. I agree that 50k is a high projection, but 40-45k should be reasonable. Good start time against a below average Wisky team. Two years ago it was an 11 am start against them on Homecoming as a 2-4 team as well. 37k was the reported attendance. It feels a lot different this season going into this game, though.

That would be outstanding.

Icing on the cake if the final margin is within +/- 7 points in an extremely competitive game.

Wisconsin player misses this tackle because he thinks he's grabbing at air. Tomorrow, they'll be tackling blueberries with orange highlights. Advantage lost.

This is a “Prove It” game for the defense. The last 3 games have been against offenses that are much better than Wisconsin’s (Maryland 23rd, Purdue 57th, Charlotte 60th) 98th ranked offense. Illinois’s offense comes in at 97th! Advantage, Illini.

Competence has been shown against good offenses, if the defense is for real, an offense like Wisconsin’s needs to be smothered.

As most football games go, this will come down to turnovers and the field position gained from those turnovers. In all honesty, the best offenses in this game will come from the defenses. Whichever defense can score first, that team will likely win.

If you’re looking for a shootout, this is not the game for you. In the last 4 Illini games the under hit. The same should be expected for tomorrow, too.

I'm guessing Art gets some time in this game, and Isaiah gets some wildcat looks.

They'll still be grabbing at air when Brown or McCray have the ball.

Re gray uniforms: Do you really want to give Peters another excuse for not being able to find the open receivers?
