I can't imagine it ever getting cancelled even though the bad weather is probably going to hurt our home-court advantage. Figures.

The old-timers here (and it makes me sad to think of myself and '83-84 as old timers) remember the Kentucky game when the weather was so bad the officials didn't make it to the game at Assembly Hall but the game was still played and Kentucky won a close one. Did we pull three refs out of the stands to work the game? Could you even imagine that happening now? Considering how much of every postgame thread is spent on officiating

I've watched whisky play a couple of times. For some reason I am feeling confident going into this game.

Kiss of death...

Is there any chance this game gets cancelled? I know it’s rare to postpone, but Champaign is almost guaranteed to receive major impacts from this winter storm. Wasn’t sure if there was any precedent for this.
Which game was it when we had to pull a couple high school refs out of the stands because the zebras assigned to our game didn't show? I wouldn't mind seeing that again.

Edit: Never mind, Bleed addressed above.

I remember that game. I would like to volunteer my services as a substitute ref right now. I would also like to just go ahead and call two flagrant fouls on Davison to start the game off on a good footing. I would like to offer him the traditional greeting offered to Iowans in Illinois as well.

The team that gets more shots is going to win this game. They are better at taking care of the ball, we are better at crashing the glass. If we can get the edge on the boards and avoid the turnover fairy then we should have this one in the bag.

Also saw Evan Miya tweet that only 4 teams in the top 50 have given up 10 or more double digit scoring runs. Wisconsin is one of them. I think it'll be a back and forth game but at some point in the 2nd half I hope we can blitz them and put the game to bed. My heart needs a break from these close games.
Yes sir, it's been too long since we had a night off for the heart

You mean a defensive stopper like that guy from Iowa who won it last year?
Kofi is the only player in the nation averaging more than 20 ppg and more than 10 rebounds per game.
This drives me insane. We beat the #10 team in the country without our two best players. We stifled them defensively. 'Ice cold from distance' has a bit to do with our defense, don't you think?

The only goal for the team is to win the game. Not to earn style points for the fans. This is a signature win for their resume, their best win of the year to date. Not the prettiest win, but the best win for our tournament and seeding chances.
No, since you asked, I don't think we guarded them especially well beyond the arc. Neither did the courtside announcers; they remarked several times how Spartan shooters were missing open looks from deep.

Against Ky; we lost a close one. I'm pretty sure we were still working with 2 refs. One who was pulled out of the stands was my elementary school principal, Ray Ahlrich of Monticello!

I'm sorry, but I just have to chuckle each time I read "playing without our two best players." In a lineup that includes guards Williams, Plummer, Frazier and Grandison, I'm sorry folks, but AC is not one of our two best players.

They need to just open the doors and let everyone in. Gonna be a bunch of no shows.
Guessing they would never do this. I ALMOST bought tickets for this one (live 3 hours north) but all the doom and gloom on the weather nixed it for my family. Need the students who can walk there and be loud to really show up Wednesday

This past weekend's blizzard in Boston raised memories of the masssive blizzard of '78 in that city, which occurred the night of the hotly contested
Beanpot hockey tournament, which pits four of the city's college hockey teams against each other. The snow was so bad that the city trains stopped running and a bunch of fans, mostly students, ended up spending the night at the old Boston Garden. Venture out students, and you might make a lifetime memory!

As a local I support this idea. I wasn't planning on going since I get off work at 7:30 but I would seriously consider going if that happens.

Update: GF said absolutely not so I'm sending her tantrum gifs until she agrees. I can't see this not working.

And why is that? Because they couldn't drive to the basket. Not every miss is because the team is just 'bad'.

And yes, AC is the second-best player on this team. Or at the very least the 3rd best since Frazier is balling all year. Chuckle all you want. He's still a significant part of this team (a preseason All-American pick) that we've been missing, and we still beat the #10 team in the country. Not because the other team had us and they were just missing open shots.

Wisconsin leaving tomorrow morning. Game will be played as scheduled. As for the fans. Who knows. I’ll be there though. Come find me
Where do we go? I'll buy you a beer for all the great info. I just don't know if you are Josh Whitman, someone sitting on the Illini bench....I'm sure you would have a lot of loyal orange and blue fans wanting to say hi and cheer the Illini on with

You may be right, but there are many experts (see below) and thousands of fans who disagree with you, so it’s not an unreasonable position to take, chuckles.

I appreciate the offer. You’re too kind. But I don’t need any free beer haha. My seats are TBD right now. Just depends on some things. I hope if it’s low crowd they let everyone move down to the lower bowl. I doubt they let people in traditions though. I know some of the old heads wouldn’t like that 🙄

I think MSU is a better team but Wisc has one elite player.
Yes, but they have 3 other pkayers that can hurt you as well. Crowl and Wahl, I mean I watched the 2 of them carve Eddy and Williams lunch against Purdue. Every time I watch a few Min of Wisc I have come away impressed. That Davis kid just keeps burrying 3's. They are close though, so you could be right.
