[QUOTE="ChiefGritty, post: 1814973, member: 746137"] 6 penalties 80 yards for Purdue, including a couple of critical PI flags that extended what became touchdown drives for us. It's crystal clear they came into the game emphasizing calling interference tightly, which is something we have been getting away with murder on all season, you can't ignore that even if "points of emphasis" are annoying and unnecessary. Bielema and Walters don't hide it, they coach to what refs call, and have trained up our guys in the kind of contact, and especially the kind of low, inside-the-frame jersey and pants grabbing you can get away with because that's not where the refs eyes are. Throw in our less experienced DB's due to injury, an opponent that likes to pass more, the wind moving the ball around in unpredictable ways, and a flag-happy crew and it was always likely to go this way. We got a couple of friendly ones too, the one that canceled out their INT was an Oscar-worthy flop by Casey Washington. All of that said, even in a game being called tightly the one that negated Witherspoon's INT was a garbage call, the only genuinely egregious refereeing decision I saw today. Though on the scale of refereeing failures that's not even close to the replay getting the TD at Indiana wrong, which was one of the worst blown replay decisions I've ever seen and where the time to think about it makes the standards higher.
