Players aren’t supposed to be trying to displace opposing players during a box out, as that is explicitly against the rules. Like another poster said, if he held firm there would have been either no call or if there was one it most likely would have gone to Quincy.
Am I the only one seeing that Q jumped forward and to the left? Essentially jumping into the box out?

had great seats for the Marquette game but had to endure an idiot sitting behind me who screamed at Coleman the entire game. Insult after insult.
So this is for that moron:
Last 5 games Coleman is averaging 14. 6 pts, 5.2 boards, 2.8 assists and 1.2 blocks.
During those 5 games he has shot 14-29 from Three.

Probably was an illini fan from this board LOL

That said, he's been pretty damn good since then..didn't realize he was averaging nearly 15 over that stretch. Felt more like 10-11

Coleman has looked really good lately, the best he has played as an Illini. He's gotten more aggressive, but at the same time cut down on the bad shot attempts.

I can’t help but think what a difference Sencire would have made in that game - just his ball hawking defensive intensity would have helped immensely

If it becomes clear TSJ is out for the year - I wonder if they would consider playing Sencire this year. He brings an element this team is missing right now. And this is a good team that can go places this year
I love that dude but they would've just kept doing the same thing to him on both ends what they effectively did to Ty. We failed to rebound well collectively for probably 20+ minutes of the game, got a made 3 waved off in the first half that stung, and had a shot at tying them up in regulation on #1s home court. Without TJ.
Sencire needs to just keep working now so we can reload next year. This year's active roster is fine.

The F1 on Jones was an awful call ...

Someone told me that Edey had not even been called for a foul the previous 3 games ... He was called for 4 tonight ... And he should have had 5 ... That one in the lane on the Goode boxout that they called on Goode was an awful call ...
I wonder if it was F1 because they didn’t call anything live

No. You are missing the point where the guy boxing out backed up 3 feet under QG. Can't do that. If he had stayed where he was it would probably be a foul on QG. But he took like 3 steps backwards while QG was in the air.

The ball was not coming to him. Are we watching the same thing here?

I mean, he reaches toward the ball and his jump is ever so slightly that way, but no jump is literally directly straight up and down because the ball is always bouncing off the rim. His body tends to look more like he is jumping to the left because his legs get pushed out the other way. You don't think this is a dangerous foul on the other guy?? I don't think he intentionally meant to take out the legs, but what he did, took out QG's legs.

There are a lot of those morons out there. Too many. Coleman is an impact player and really helps this team. I have a buddy on a group chat that I’ve had to mute bc he can’t stop railing on Coleman shooting or not shooting or turnovers or passing it or not passing it. He oddly gets more pleasure from complaining about Coleman than actually watching the games. Been like that for two years.

Side note: I really wish he had gotten that three off 1/2 sec earlier…

Brad already said TSJ’s situation will have no impact on Sincire’s redshirt

What would happen if Underwood told Ty to just take it to the basket w a full running start one or two times to either yoke it over Edey or get a foul or two on him. Yeah he might get blocked or stuffed but something interesting one way or other would happen and maybe force a change. Ty is a damn good athlete and can jump. Could he catch Edey not ready for that. Don’t think Edey is quick enough laterally to draw a charge. Maybe Coleman could slide over and try to pick Edey while Ty slices to that side for a lay up? Idk. Just spitballin’ here.

Exactly what I wanted to see. I thought Ty should take it right the rim, right at Edey. We also could have had Ty screen for a shooter up top, but the problem is that most of our ballhandlers aren't really shooters.

The rule is needed to protect the players in the air. In my soph. year of HS in Illinois, I had that happen to me. At the time, I was starting for a top 10 ranked team. The injury put me on the bench for the rest of the season.

When you leave the floor, your instincts prepare you for the landing. But when your feet and legs are taken out, you are instantaneously put into a blender with no idea where you are landing or on what part of the body. Serious injuries are the result way too often. Blocking out is one thing, undercutting is a completely different animal.
Damonte Williams got called for this many times, so not sure why many are questioning it finally going our way.

Good fight after the right lineups got put in.

From a metrics perspective, that's about as good of a loss as you can have.
Evidence? Our metrics improved!!

Only frustration is that a lot of things could have gone our way in the first half to “luck” us into a MASSIVE win. But who cares now? On to the next!! Love this group.

Agree- or instead of Ty doing the dribble handoff , just have him screen for Goode while Domask or someone else has the ball - it would be a wide open three for Goode given Edey wouldn’t have time to hedge or close out. I really didn’t understand our strategy for Ty on offense knowing Edey was just guarding the paint
