Hoping I can provide a little insight for you all in regards to Lawson. First things first, he's extremely talented. Big time arm, good runner, powerful, etc. He had way too much hype coming into Tech as a freshman. Many fans awarding him the Heisman already, you know the deal. An insider on one of our boards said that the coaches believed they had a first round quarterback on their hands when he got on campus. That was until he actually had to learn the playbook. Basically, he just struggled so poorly with the mental side of the game that he just couldn't get it done. I would have liked to see him stay at VT and switch positions to TE or WR like we had Bucky Hodges do, but he chose to move on because he was told by Fuente that he was going to redshirt his sophomore season (The previous staff played him in the second game of his freshman season to then only play him about 50 snaps all year, so he basically wasted a year). I really hope that he turns it on for you guys, but I would just strongly advise you to temper expectations. He is one heck of a talent, there's no debating that. As a college QB though, he has a lot of work to do. I'm sure you can tell that from his JUCO numbers. Best of luck to you all and I hope you have some success with Lawson in the future. I'll check back for a day or so if any of you have questions regarding him that I didn't talk about.
