I'm so sorry to hear this news. I remember the crucial loss to Ky in the NCAA tourney. Efrem played with a severe ankle sprain. He was only at about 30 %. We nearly won and that game was played in Ky's arena. Thank god we got rid of home games in the tourney and that game provided a big part of the impetus to change all games to neutral. Efrem was a huge commit coming out of h.s. RIP big guy.

This particular team is My Team. Efrem and the boys will always have a place right in the middle of my Illini heart. Even Tom "Vanilla Thunder" Schafer. Thanks for the memories, Efrem.
Will always be one of my favorite teams. And Doug Altenberger might be my favorite of favorites. We're both 6'4" (well, we used to be), and I'm still amazed that he played and excelled amongst the giants in the front court. He's a warrior among warriors.

I can remember watching his dad play. Billy Altenberger was an Illini mainstay.

He looked like he had springs in his legs, he seemed to go straight up flat footed better than anyone I have seen.
