As bad as we have looked at times this year we just need to make sure we make the ncaa tourney. We are still very capable of making a 3 or 4 game run. The ceiling is much higher than the team we had a couple of years ago that lost to Arkansas in the first round.
I hope I am wrong, but they'll probably lose in R2. I don't think there's any capability.

I’m at the point with this team that I’m no longer frustrated after they lose…It’s like a given.

I think the Lithuania mafia has gotten to KJ
KJ looks like he was throwing the game with his play. He was atrocious, even his free throws looked off. His plus minus had to be -25 considering our runs only came with him on the bench.

I will assume the fix is not in and that left hand had really hampered him. He shooting with his hands/arms/shoulders and not legs... Which is not good when one of your arms is hurt.

We are young and have lost confidence…missing a veteran presence….needing someone to step up and lead this team…I think Riley tried to kind of fill that role tonight, but Will tried to do to much….saw a lot on dribbling one on one while the other 4 stood around and watched ….

Well, at least I have a couple hours I didn't think I was gonna have Saturday to do something enjoyable.

Just not a good team, sadly. Complete fail to waste 2, possibly 3, NBA players on one team. Maybe too young, but I think it is more that we are just a poorly coached team and have been all season really. I don't know how we can continually come out in games not ready to play, with a total cluster !!!! of a game plan. It's unreal. You can't always have a Terrance Shannon Jr or Ayo on your team to bail out the weak !!! game plans and prep. Team has not improved at all throughout the season. Like usual, you can tell in the first minute or two if the team has the desire to win, and tonight they obviously did not.

Some changes have to happen, and I'm pretty sure they will, and we will see a totally different staff and team next year. Really disappointing season so far, after looking like we had a world of potential at the beginning of January. Ready for football season already. Sad.
This👆🏼.

That’s my biggest issue. The huge potential of some of these players playing for the Illini is lost due to bad roster construction and worse coaching. We badly needed some veterans on this team.

“Get old, stay old” said Brad about the team that brought him the most success. Then the next season he puts together a group of freshman/underclassmen with gaping holes on the roster and an even less experienced coaching staff.

Did you watch us out there on offense? One guy dribbling while the other guys either stand around or make pointless movements around the baseline or an easy-to-see and anticipate half-!!! screen. The fact that we need an outlier 3-point percentage to compete in games isn't a sign that we're losing because of bad luck. Nor is our cluelessness in defending simple screens. We have been poorly prepared for games, and we need coaching changes ASAP.

Illini scored 53 points in the paint against OSU, and completely dominated the second half with Tomi and Morez. This game, Brad goes back to the game plan of dribble, dribble, chuck up a 3, miss, don't rebound, run the other way. That was the entire first half. Is it possible that he's figured out that this is not a good 3 point shooting team no matter how many so-called "elite" shooters he has? You've got two big dudes who can play in the lane. Feed them.
