It will be interesting to see what our game time/channel is for Northwestern if we can win the next two. On the one hand, that game has almost always been in a terrible slot, and NU delivers very, very bad ratings. On the other hand, the new FOX-CBS-NBC setup and some games being on Friday opens things up a bit (I think, lol...), and the appeal of the game being at Wrigley will at least count for something. Here are the Big Ten games that week:
FRIDAY 11/29
11:00 am on CBS - Minnesota at Wisconsin
6:30 pm on NBC - Nebraska at Iowa
SATURDAY 11/30
11:00 am on FOX - Michigan at Ohio State
Illinois vs. Northwestern at Wrigley Field
Notre Dame at USC
Washington at Oregon
Penn State at Maryland
Purdue at Indiana
Rutgers at Michigan State
Fresno State at UCLA
Barring a bunch of very unforeseen things happening, I think Rutgers/MSU and Fresno State/UCLA are the least appealing other games. Purdue/Indiana sounds interesting this year on paper, but Purdue is just so bad and it's in Bloomington. You would have to figure NBC wants the USC/Notre Dame game no matter what, and they're just waiting to see if it will be primetime or at 2:30 pm? My absolute total guesses, which optimistically assume that we win the next two games and finish strong heading into Wrigley:
Purdue at Indiana
2:30 pm on CBS -
Illinois vs. Northwestern (CBS ends up with the third pick this week and chooses to broadcast from Wrigley rather than go to Oregon for what might be a blowout)
2:30 pm on NBC -
Notre Dame at USC (NBC takes Notre Dame/USC with the second pick this week, but they put it at 2:30 pm, freeing up the primetime slot; so far, the 2:30 pm slot has usually just had a standard Notre Dame slot or not used for Big Ten football)
6:30 pm on NBC -
Washington at Oregon (still a very exciting rivalry, and Washington is picking it up a bit; also gives West Coast schools a later start)
11:00 am on BTN -
Rutgers at Michigan State (least appealing CST/EST game dumped into the Ohio State/Michigan window)
11:00 am on FS1 - Some Big XII game
11:00 am on Peacock - N/A
2:30 pm on BTN -
Purdue at Indiana (again, this would be a lot more highly coveted if Purdue had a pulse, IMO)
2:30 pm on FS1 - Some Big XII game
6:30 pm on BTN -
Penn State at Maryland (Maryland $hits the bed vs. Rutgers at home this weekend, making this matchup pretty much just about PSU ... but it's still good enough for a night time slot)
6:30 pm on FS1 -
Fresno State at UCLA (cared about so little by the networks that they at least give these West Coast squads a decent start time, lol)
Most likely scenario, of course, is not CBS ... but rather BTN, FS1 or Peacock.

However, I am actually cautiously optimistic that the Wrigley fanfare moves the needle to get us to 2:30 pm instead of the black hole that is an 11:00 am game NOT on FOX this week, lol.
