This team has two players with the speed and quickness to stay with similar type guards and shut them down. Both will be sophomores in eligibility....next year. Harris would prove to be of high value this year....but I admire his decision and the fact that he wants to become an elite player...at both ends. Hope he gets some correct advice on his shot...both from the FT line and the floor. I do recall Dee Brown working on his release and becoming a better shooter. Over 8 years of HS and college play, it is hard not to and is guaranteed if the right work is done. No one is pulling for Harris more than me.

I remember Quinn Richardson redshirting 1983? and thinking “What’s the point?” , but he became a solid shooter and contributor. I didn‘t expect much in the way of a contribution, but he played very well.

Interesting. Harris seems to have redshirted on his own. The way this reads is Schutt decision was made for him. No inside info just the way the two redshirts were messaged.
More context to this..... From Coach S.
"I just want to clarify [on] Jaden Schutt, the plan is for him to redshirt," Scheyer confirmed to the media. "[We] have had some talks. He actually came to me. And you know, he had an injury in the fall and got behind a little bit and felt that it was best to focus fully on his development, focus fully on getting better every single day."

He is also transferring. Might as well not waste eligibility sitting on the bench.

He is? I haven't seen that anywhere.
Give it time. In Jaden's class, Duke brought in the #1 SG, #3 CG, #3 SF, all top 25 players. The following class they brought in the #3 SG, a top 15 player. They got 2 more top 15 wings committed for next years class already.

You think he is going to practice really hard and go from seeing action in only 50% of the games to passing up the endless stream of blue chip players he's going to be competing against? Especially in an era where almost 2,000 kids transfer a year? I do not think kids are just now seeing the value of a RS. They're seeing the value of preserving eligibility.

This is another reason kids don't play to their ranking. Schutt could be awesome, but he went to a school that brings in multiple 5 stars every single class. Doesn't matter if you're an A player if the guy in front of you is an A+.

Not to rain on the premature parade, but I pretty distinctly remember either Indy, 0440, or both saying that Illinois would not be particularly interested in Schutt due to him coming with a ton of drama (either the kid himself or those surrounding him--I'm recalling the latter).
