These freaking coaches man. They're so well-spoken. They have some typical coach-speak, but they all seem to sneak in some very technical, deep football strategy information in there too. It's really something.
This coaching staff has a very collegially attitude and atmosphere. They are well spoken which doubles as a great sales pitch. Players aren't stupid, especially the ones we are trying to recruit, they know coaching and mentoring are what they are going to need if they want to move on to the next level. I think our coaching staff is a glowing endorsement too that BB will take care of you and keep you in the fold for future positions. Which for the players who aren't going to make it to the NFL, has to have some sort of comfort and safety for them.

What was the last staff even doing? So glad we made this change. smh.
I think their thing was more of the professional approach where you don't over manage people. You show up and get your work done. You know your body better than we do. I think Lovie was used to Pros who are already film junkies and didn't think you had to hold kids hands to do it. Basically Lovie and his staff didn't feel the need to enforce things as these kids were professionals in his mind.

To expect a college kid to have these habits is pretty unrealistic; college is where these habits are formed

Pretty amazing really that we weren't even more of an absolute dumpster fire under Lovie, and makes that two week stretch in 2019 even more remarkable. If it wasn't for him pulling in some recruits on name value alone and guys like Corey Patterson, things probably should've been even worse, and were probably headed that way.

Oh, I completely agree and second to uninspired recruiting this is the biggest short coming of Lovie. I think he lied to himself and said he was building good men by allowing them to be personally accountable.

I try to avoid having one player's opinion become the narrative of the coaching transition but this is the third (or fourth?) player who has mentioned a dramatic change for the better in the coaching staffs. While great to hear that things are much improved it is also disappointing to wonder what could have been.

Love listening to these. Well worth his effort to do the little things and market the program. Hopefully Barker, Ford and perhaps Reiman play key roles in our offense strating this fall.

Just piggy-backing on the other comments here, Lovie and his staff sound egregiously bad. I'm wondering if Whitman ever sat down with him and asked what the hell was going on. Most of us fans had the same impression that Smith had such a hands-off approach to everything. Kind of surprised it was allowed to go on so long.

Whitman hired Lovie. Situation had to get bad enough for him to be able to admit his mistake.

Looking forward to hearing BTNs assessment of how the program is being run with largely the same players. Always had the impression that they had to choose their words wisely in critiquing our program in the past. Urban would let out some clues occasionally with X and O sessions.

I know it’s very early but I am really impressed with these coaches, especially Aaron Henry. If I was young enough and talented enough, I’d love to play for these guys! I really think they can make a difference.

Has it been determined whether any fans can attend the Spring game in person? I lost track of that.

Any insiders here have any notes from spring ball so far or scrimmage #1? Also is Marquez to WR a permanent thing ?
