Cards News: @RGrich15 threw at 90 feet today. Next step is 120 and then back in the lineup. Can't wait to see him in there. #scoops

@dgoold: Wainwright is going through some drills that simulate covering first base. Early steps here of fielding his position. #cardinals #stlcards

Hope yadi can get some good rest today, not being in the lineup is a good start, but you know it's going to be hard for him to shut it down mentally, especially once the game starts

He needs too. It may sound crazy but they should make him stay at the hotel or something. He needs to take a real mental break. We need him more in postseason than we do at this very moment.

Also I think I will be upset if Jay is on postseason team over a couple of the other guys. It shouldn't be what did you do for me last year (especially in mid-September) over what have you done lately.

Anyone else read the vivaelbirdos.com post about Jay at beginning of the month and then the story on STLToday.com about why Pham should be on postseason lineup over Jay? Both were good reads if you haven't read already.

Pham has struck out twice now on 6 pitches since drilling Nelson in the head... hope it didn't mess him up mentally. He looked pretty shook up.

Guessing he is this game. Don't think it'll hurt him tomorrow, or into the weekend, but it definitely is effecting tonight

Well guys, Cubs fan here, looking forward to a great weekend series. I'm sure you all are hoping to put the division away, while we're hoping to make it a little more interesting :thumb:

Just don't get swept by the Cubs or Pirates and the division should be ours.

Just don't get swept this series. That's the key to holding onto the division.

Man, Lance has nothing on his fastball today. Everything is flat, his two seamer is just falling over the middle of the plate, and he has no feel with the curve(hasn't, as always doesn't throw it a lot). As I type this, we are lucky to be down 3-2 right now.

Holliday stepped in the box, promptly hit in the head. He was professional about it, but probably not the guy you want to be throwing at around the head.

Hope he will be ok.

And I see we are doing stupid crap too. Why throw at Rizzo?

Rizzo leaned into the first one and they hit Holliday in the head. Not saying it is right, but this baseball and it is just kind of written in. It is what it is.

Rizzo has been hit about 28 or so times this year.

Do it in a close game not a blow out where it serves no purpose. Plus he's not backing off the plate anyways. He is at or near the top in hbp's anyways. I'm not a fan of it. I'm also not a fan of Rizzo stealing but it isn't like game is completely out of reach. And finally Peralta needs more days off too. He isn't completely there right now. Put Garcia in for a few games.

Do it in a close game? What? Do it in a blowout 100 out of 100 times. If you put him on, so be it; but put him on in a close game, you're asking for trouble.

That's why you hit rizzo in the !!! every time so he understands he needs to back off. Him stealing is bush league, but it's a rivalry now. What do you expect?

It for sure looks tacky, but a messge has to be sent. Farley is right, do it right away and move on.

I personally liked maddons post game comments about being disappointed with the cardinals and how they don't start stuff but they will finish it.

Does he mean like how they finished hollidays day? Or maybe how Coughlan finished kangs rookie year yesterday. Shut up, you moron, and just let your guys play the game.

And I used to really like him, but since he's been in our division I've heard nothing but complaining from him.
