Well , I'm watching the game this afternoon because Montgomery is pitching for the D-backs........I wish we had signed him during the off season and am glad he fired Boras.......maybe he might give us a chance next time......I know he has an option year in his one yr contract with Az but don't know who's option it is , his or AZ.......

wow , just read the above tweet about Walker being optioned out to Memphis......it needed to happen earlier , JMHO........Fermin is tearing it up @ Memphis.....hope he can continue in the Show.......I really really do....................

Vested option. Means he can earn next year based on his performance(starts) this season.

-He can opt-out of 2025 if he starts 10 games this season

-Certain number of starts raises his salary for next season. If he starts 10, automatically gets $20M if he stays to pitch in 2025. 18 starts makes it $22.5M and 23 starts sets max at $25M.

In the long run, what does it really matter? It always nice when former players stop by for a cup of coffee and to slap the guys on the back and tell a few jokes but it really doesn't mean a whole lot. Working with young catchers in ST is a good thing but once the season begins you don't want too many coaches telling a kid what to do and how to do it.
He has a life to live. Let him.

or maybe it doesnt reflect well on the roster and front office of the team. he simply may not want to take a job
where he cant win because the front office makes bad moves and hires a bad skipper. why would he take a bench
coach job for Oli Marmol? he turns them around and Marmol gets the credit or he goes down with the ship. maybe
sit it out and let the blood letting in the front office take place, then come in with a new management?

Lets hope the Cards haven't ruined Jordan Walker. He can hit. He hit early last year and the cards thought
it wasn't good enough (launch angle) and sent him to the minors. Now they've done it again. A young hitter
providing a good average and extra bases can develop and learn how to bomb it. Now were messing with
his confidence, Not a good look for the birds.

If only he was doing that

It's why I moved from Fubo to YouTube TV. Fubo forced the regional Bally networks and related $15/month subscription fee increase, so I immediately changed to YouTubeTV. Plus, YTTV has Turner stations (NBA, US Soccer, and NHL) while Fubo doesn't.

he did last year.
Yeah, to an extent. And that was mostly done after he was sent down.

He was hurting the team this year. You can't just keep starting him and hope that he figures it out in the majors. He has options left, so you send him to the minors so that he can still get regular at-bats to try to figure things out.

I just don't see how sending him to the minors is a bad look at all. If anything, not sending him down looks worse.

because they've mishandled him over and over. he was a hitter last spring and the first month of the season until the f'd with his swing.

I disagree with this 100%

Cardinals sent him down last season because they want him to line drive the ball not pop it up. His overall batting average didn't change much but he is a force when driving the ball. He resorted back to his basics this season.

2023 batting average by hit trajectory

Ground balls .322

Fly balls .205

Line Drives .633

2024 batting average by hit trajectory so far

Ground balls .286

Fly balls .083

Line Drives .286
