21 games left in the season ... the Cardinals are 5.5 games out of the last wildcard spot ... so unless a miracle happens, they are pretty much eliminated from playoff consideration again for the 3rd consecutive season.

I am on the fence on whether or not I would like to see Marmol back next year, but I am definitely NOT going to miss John Mozeliak in the front office. Let the Chaim Bloom era begin.

Mitch McGreevy is 6-2 and gets the start tonight. He has been a bright spot on an othewise pitiful starting pitching staff. JJ Wetherholt has been tearing it up in every level of minor league ball this season ... including the AAA level. What would it hurt to bring him up for the last 3 weeks of the season to see some MLB pitching and get accumsted to playing in MLB parks?

You can only play the cards dealt to you. Pun intended but Marmol has underwhelmed me as a leader of young men. Missing the playoffs 3 straight years is not the Cardinal Way.

Meanwhile, the guy they got rid of due to "philosophical differences" has the Padres 2 games behind the defending World Series champion Dodgers in the NL West, and he also has San Diego firmly in the wild card race right now. The firing of Mike Shildt was definitely a head scratcher to me.

I personally wouldn't mind to see new ownership of the organization, but I doubt if that happens anytime soon. If the DeWitt's continue to see only 17,000 - 18,000 tickets sold ... and less than that actually go through the turnstiles, then maybe the DeWitt's will open DeWallets and spend some money to field a competitive team again. I see the biggest need right now is quality starting pitchers.

The expiration of the CBA at the end of next season hangs over the game right now. Teams are going to be very reluctant to jump into long term deals until they see what the new agreement looks like and how much of the 2027 season is lost while all these dimwits figure things out. I don't see much being done by the Cards for next year. Maybe a Lynn/Gibson/Quintana type on a 1 or 1+1 deal for not a lot of money. Otherwise roll out the team we have now plus Wetherholt and Matthews.

THAT'S A WINNER!!!

Cardinals stun the Giants with a 3 run 9th walk off rally culminated by a Jordan Walker base hit for the win.....

Wow,....

just finished watching the Cards-Giants game as I fell asleep in the middle of the live session.......I think it was exhaustion from the Illini -puke FB game earlier, so I started watching again starting with the top of the 6th..........What a comeback in the bottom of the 9th with Gorman and Winn getting base hits and Crooks getting a HBP......Saggese followed with a base knock and Walker closed out the walkoff win............Walker needed that hit to end a 0-25 streak...............................

I should note that Pallante did have a quality start last nite and pitched his best game in a long time.........still a 6-13 record with a high ER close to 6.00 is still a major concern.........and his 2 HBP's meant Verlander had to plunk Winn in return......
fun at the ole ballpark..................

THAT'S A WINNER !!!!!!!!!!!

The Cardinals won today 4-3 and also win the series from the Giants doing damage to the Giants hope's in the WC race.....I didn't watch the game as I was watching the Illini women's VB game so I will catch the highlights later on...

LET'S GO CARDINALS !!!!!.........

Sonny Gray takes a no-hitter into the 6th inning on Sunday afternoon, as he picked up his 13th win of the season. The Cardinals take 2 of 3 from the Giants to wrap up the homestand.

They travel to Seattle tomorrow night for a Monday night tilt vs the Mariners. Seattle had 18 men cross the plate in a 18-2 blowout win over the Braves this afternoon. The Cardinals have Miles Mikolas pitching tomorrow. Hopefully the Mariners bats don't have any hits left in them after today and Mikolas also takes a no-hitter into the 6th like Sonny Gray did today ... but who am I kidding?

Woo for the Mariners has such a smooth delivery.....the late back door break on his fastball reminds me Greg Maddux catching corners for strikes............

wow ............Burleson with a long 2 run smashed tater to get the Cardinals the early 2-0 lead in the top of the 4th......great to get Burly back after missing 9 games.....he is such an important cog in the Cardinals offense..................he really really is..........

The Mariners challenge on Crooks blocking the plate was one of the silliest challenges I have ever seen............

Masyn Winn has a slight meniscus tear in his right knee and will have surgery AFTER the season ends......hoping to get his 1st Gold Glove award he will play through the pain as he has been assured by team doctors playing won't worsen injury......

Disgusting team, and I don't see any way up. They're playing Memphis guys practically across the board and every one looks meh.

Pallante strikes again.....gives up 4 runs on 1 bunt single and comedy of errors......................lol........

I have reached my limit of torture watching this years Cardinals team.......running Pallante out there every 5th game has shown me that whoever is making that decision needs to be fired..........If Pallante is anywhere near a pitching mound for the Cardinals next year then I will realize that new FO is as dumb as this years FO......

I fully agree with the post about JJ Wetherholt up above .......
