Read another article said Baez is a 3B and their # 5 prospect. Numbers in Low A aren’t impressive.
His numbers aren't bad actually. .740 SLG in A+ this season. Last season as a 19 year old he flashed one of the best 90th percentile exit velocities in the Florida State League (Single-A). Will he ever produce in the majors? Who knows. All prospects are lottery tickets to some degree.

Nobody was going to give us one of their top prospects for a rental on a relief pitcher (even a really good one). This seems like a pretty good return all-in-all.

Especially when he's going to come back and pitch for the cardinals next year...

The trade analyst on ESPN.com seems to think that the Cardinals read the trade market correctly, in regards to the reliever market. Baez is probably gonna be a third basemen in the long run. Dohm is considered the better of the two pitching prospects they got. He is a fastball-heavy pitcher with a good slider. He probably ends up as a reliever as his fastball hit 99 MPH in college.

Cardinals reportedly sending Steven Matz to the Red Sox for 1B/3B prospect Blaze Jordan.

Jordan started the season at AA before being promoted to Triple A last month. Chaim Bloom was the head of baseball ops in Boston when Jordan was drafted back in 2020. Could potentially see Jordan as a September call-up though he'd need to be put on the 40-man roster first.

Cardinal FO getting high marks on their return from the Helsley trade.................Baez could be the Cardinals answer to 3rd base in 2-3 more years of grooming in the minors......................hope the 2 pitching prospects can stay healthy .....the injury bug is biting the Cardinals minor league pitching big time right now....

They did give up a lot but Miller is under team control for another 4 years after this season, and they also got JP Sears who is under team control for another 3 after this season.

I'll give it to the front office. At least they have finally picked a lane. They realized they couldn't get the big names in the game anymore because they didn't draft well and didn't have stockpiles of talented pitchers, hitters, and fielders to use or trade as needed. Here's to the rebuild! I think it will be a couple years, but it's going to be really fun to see the young guys (Herrera, Winn, Wetherholt, and more) continue to develop. It was admirable the way this team played this year and I am going to choose to remember the team that reached nearly 10 games over .500 than the broken down thin team we saw the last couple weeks, and naturally even thinner now.

For those in central Illinois and want to see some of the Cardinals prospects they got at the deadline, it sounds like the 3 players they got from the Mets along with the player they got from the Rangers are all going to report to Peoria.
I've been to Dozer Park to watch the Chiefs a few times. It's a nice facility.

I don't know anything about Mason Molina or Skyler Hales but these are the players StL got in return for Phil Maton.
