THAT'S A WINNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cardinals get a much needed win on the first game of the road trip beating the Marlins in a comeback 8-3 victory..............

After a slow start the Cardinals comeback from 2-0 deficit with the help from numerous Marlins miscues to win going away with some dominant bullpen pitching in relief of Liberatore..................

Libby goes 5 IP , 5 hits , 3 ER and 5 K's.......
Svanson with 2 IP , 1 hit , 1 K...........
Romero survived another Gorman throwing error with Gorman starting a DP...........
Alcala finished with 1 scoreless IP...................

Burleson goes 3-4 with 2 RBI's............
Nootbaar 2-5 , 1 RBI.............
Contreras 2-4 , 1 R , 1 RBI............
Gorman1-4 , 1 smashed tater , 2 RBI's............
Pages 1-3 , 2 RBI's........he's tearing up August so far with a BA ( I believe ) over .400...........

Would be great to see an extended winning streak right now of 8 or more in a row........LET'S GO CARDINALS !!!!!!

THAT'S A WINNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......................

Cardinals unleash a barrage of singles tonight to win the series and the game tonight by a 7-4 margin.............

McGreevy with a quality start going 6 IP , 6 hits , 3 ER and 5 K's...........his record is now 5-2 and the Cardinals are 11-3 in games he has started this year.............he should have in the rotation a lot sooner in the season instead of the batting practice pitchers before.....
Svanson looks better every time he pitches...........1 IP , 2 K's..............
Romero pitches his 3rd game in a row and was excellent............
O'Brien with some Helsley drama but came back with 2 K's for the save...................

Nootbaar.....2-5...........1 R........
Herrera ......2-5.......3 RBI's.......
Contreras ,,,,,,,2-5.........
Saggese,,,,3-4.......1 RBI.....

He walked two batters but the balls were very very close to the zone. Under normal circumstances some batters would have swung but since he threw 8 balls in a row they were taking the pitches.

Pallante has given up 19 ER's in last 23 1/3 innings with a 6-9 season record.........that's a 7.34 era......has his runway been long enough already ??
Pallante has NOW given up 24 ER's in his last 28 2/3 IP............7.55 ERA.........Run support is not an excuse for that pizz poor ERA stat......

he is not a rotation worthy pitcher.........his record will be 6-11 if the Cardinals don't come back tonight......

Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results......He doesn't throw hard enough to get consistent swing and miss and his knuckle curve is batting practice level IF he gets it in the strike zone......cost control of a below average SP is not going to get you to the post season.......

The Cardinals have enjoyed solid 3 million attendance levels for years but did little to improve their chances of another WS title.......

They are now experiencing feedback from the fans and I doubt this off season will show any major free agent adds to the MLB roster for 2026........with a work stoppage staring MLB in the face it could be a while before the Cardinals can challenge for post season play , let alone a 12th WS title.......the future doesn't look promising to me at all............JMHO........................

Chip Carey just stated the Cardinals have lost 8 out of the last 9 starts by Pallante , NOT counting tonight's game........run support is not the problem with Pallante , it's his inability to get MLB batters out consistent enough to give the team a chance to win.........

His last 10 games includes 1 win. The run totals for the offense is 0, 0,2,3,0,7(W),3,1,3, and 2 tonight. Not much support.

So your saying his difficulties as a SP is run support , not his ERA ?.................24 ER's allowed in last 28 2/3 IP is NOT a problem ?

smh.....................

Bit of a scheduling oddity for the series this weekend in Tampa. Cardinals were originally supposed to have tomorrow off and play Friday, Saturday, Sunday. However, due to the Bucs final preseason game against the Bills on Saturday, the series will now be Thursday, Friday, off day Saturday, Sunday.

Steinbrenner Field and Raymond James Stadium share a parking lot so it would have been an absolute nightmare trying to have that many fans in one place on a Saturday night.

I’m saying it’s not all his ERA. If he would get some help and have a lead to work with, it could help.

He pitched well last Lear and earned his spot.

and he's pitched poorly this year and should lose his spot...............since pitchers don't bat any more their only function is to limit runners getting on base and scoring runs.......he's failing bad at doing that and hence a 7 + era and 11 losses now.......time to let someone else try to earn a spot ............Pallante did better in the bullpen only facing batters one time in a game.......jmho.............

Many of us said after the 2023 season that the pitching situation was going to take some time to fix. It is still a work in progress. Time is showing that there was/is not too much help in the minor league system at this point. The Cardinals signed Sonny Gray, which in my opinion was a good move. Then at some point in time they brought in Lance Lynn, Kyle Gibson, and Eric Fedde. I am sure there were some others. But the point with Lynn, Gibson, and Fedde is that all of them are now retired. Those signings were just an attempt to stem the tide until something else comes along. So this pitching staff is hamstrung with what they have. And apparently there is not enough confidence to bring up someone like Matthews to take a spot in the rotation. I know it is probably something concerning future player control.

I expect this years # 5 pick in the draft , Liam Doyle will to be on the MLB roster of the Cardinals in 2026.....the question being discussed is will it be as a starter or in the bullpen......This has been the general opinion of most of the articles I have read about his early career path with the Cardinals..........they need his swing and miss capabilities performing in STL to infuse some excitement in the fan base..........

I think Mathews MIGHT have been called up this year if he had been healthy all season long.........But those are two pretty good lefties to have close to the big leagues........I really doubt Pallante is a starter next year as it seems there is a thought of Leahy being a candidate for the rotation next year........

THAT'S A WINNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cardinals start off another series in the Sunshine state with a 7-4 victory against the Tampa Bay Rays.................The Rays are playing their home games this year in the Yankees spring training and minor league field and their infield play was minor league with numerous botched plays occurring throughout the game.......

Sonny Gray went 5 IP , 6 H , 3 ER AND 6 K's for his 12th win of the season.....
JoJo Romero got the 2 IP save with 3 K's............

Nootbaar got his 5th multi-hit game in a row with a 2-3 , 2 W , 1 RBI...............
Burleson goes 2-5 with 2 RBI's..............
Contreras 2-5 with a long smashed tater , his 17th to lead the team......
Gorman with another good game hitting going 2-4.........
Church still looking for his 1st hit but he scored 2 R, and got an outfield assist gunning down a runner at 3rd base.....

Let's win the series tomorrow and then enjoy a day off before sweeping them Sunday...............LET;S GO CARDINALS !!!!!!!!!!!!

looking at another 2 hour delay and forecast isn't good after that..........lol

They'll do everything that they can to get this one but I wouldn't be shocked if they just postponed this one and only played it as Game 162 if either team needed it to be in the postseason.

I did not get to watch the game. Did Chip and Brad talk about how far the Redbirds are out of a playoff spot today?
