Exactly.. It started as all about the commitment to be there and impact you could make. The charitable part came in much later and grew to the point where that was what mattered. Back in the day you were even required to come to campus for some of the games when school was not in session. People scrambled for "local students" to fill their seats when their holiday travel prevented meeting their commitments. Crush leaders looked the other way that you didn't show up yourself.. unless your seat filler wasn't loud enough!
