Support for a fellow Illini fan

I've had season tickets for some time with my disabled son. If you saw him on a good day you would think he is a healthy young man. He's not, he's had six open heart surgeries and a ton of less serious heart procedures. Something has hit him unrelated to the heart and vascular issues that has almost taken him from us again. He's been in the critical care unit (ICU) at Carle the last twelve days, and had his fourth surgery since admission today. His mom has slept there every night but one. Please pray for this Illini fan and his parents. I'm hoping to watch Illini home games with him at State Farm Center again next year.

Got back from 9 p.m. Ash Wednesday Mass an hour ago. Just read this. Wish I'd known before. Your son and family are in my prayers right now and will be from here on, especially this Sunday at Mass.

Thanks for sharing your son's story. I hope you will keep us updated. As others have said, I am praying for his full healing, moments of peace for you and your family and a future that includes smiles and much optimism for him and those he's touched.

Thanks to all of you for your prayers, my son is slowly moving in the right direction. He finally moved from the Critical Care Unit (ICU) to the advanced care unit last night after 16 days. There's a long road before he can leave the hospital, but there a light peaking at the end of the tunnel now.

Continuing to send prayers and positive vibes that your son has a complete recovery so he can go watch more Illini victories with his dad…

Like many posters here my Illini fandom was passed down to me from my father. It’s something I will treasure forever, long after he passes, and something I dream of passing along to a future child. Sending positive thoughts to you and your family and hope your son’s health continues to improve. Much love and blessings, Illinois Loyalty is more than a message board name. ❤️
