When the same thing happens game after game and season after season, that's on the coach to address. Especially when it comes to inbounds plays and late-game offensive sets, where the coaching can make those marginal games.

Brad Underwood has done so many great things for this program, but man some of the things that trip this team up are maddening. Maybe he can bring Lon Kruger in as a consultant on late-game sets and after timeout plays. Kruger was an absolute savant in those situations.

I know with how tight this game was against the #1 team in the nation that people will get the impression that the Illini will be a contender come March.

I understand the point, but the two losses at NU and vs. Tennessee give me a cause for concern.

Until they can execute a simple inbounds play, hit free throws in the most crucial times and start having your 7-footer post up more and score around the rim, then the concern shall vanquish!

Laughable analysis as always. We didn’t shoot it well enough. Wasn’t strong enough with the ball down low enough. That’s it. Need more Morez. Move on and learn…..which I know Brad will.

No excuse for losing this game. Their 2 maybe 3 best players didn't play [much] in the second half. Atrocious execution down the stretch. Very disappointing.

Two things can be true.

1) Brad and staff have done an incredible job building the program and are great coaches.

2) Our inbounds plays, both BLOB and SLOB, are horrible considering the level. I coached high school for a decade, and having 4-5 BLOB/SLOB plays that generally work to generate a layup or 3 is by far easier than the other aspects of coaching.

Brad, for free, I will come show you 4 Across, Box X, or “Slide” for a sideline layup. I can’t guarantee they’ll work every time, but I can guarantee they’ll be better than whatever we have now as our BLOB/SLOB plays. Give me 30 mins and I’ll have them installed for you.

Instead of sliding over to help our center turned to box out. If the games were only 39 minutes long, we’d be undefeated.

What I will say is that I do appreciate a coach willing to stand up in front of the media and say, "I screwed up." As frustrating as that is, Underwood saying it is at least him recognizing the issue. Now let's see how it's corrected. But the first step to solving a problem is admitting there is a problem in the first place.

And I corrected that. We have to make free throws at big moments in the game. Missed a few down the stretch.
