I was watching the highlights of the 2005 game against Arizona and realized that Dee Brown pulled a Cayden Boozer at the end of regulation. Fortunately, Luther Head prevented a Braylon Mullins. 😬

This is exactly what went through my mind too! Nice post

Just wondering if beating Michigan in the title game is better than beating the team that beat Michigan to get to the title game. We could rub that into Michigan for many, many years. Also, that team from out West, from the things I've read, seems to be far more arrogant at the present time. They pretty much think the Michigan game is the title game. It would be so nice to beat them in the title game.

Highly unpopular opinion, but I do hope they win it if the Beloved doesn't. I use the term "hope" very loosely, as my interest becomes nearly nil if we get eliminated.

I don't have the same hatred for Michigan basketball that I do for Michigan football.

The conference NEEDS a natty to quiet the haters.

So, "OnlyOrangeButSometimesMaizeAndBlue"?

If we beat Arizona it'd almost be like beating Michigan twice. 😀

What if the haters are right? If the B1G doesn't win this season it's clearly overrated. How could you not agree with that?

Any ideas on team hotel in Indy? Taking my family of 6 up tomorrow and Friday for fan fest (much cheaper 😂) and trying to make it as special as possible.

No good place to put this, so I’ll try here. Maybe it has already been posted about elsewhere. Does Mick Cronin have a bone to pick with Illinois? Saw an interview on Twitter (not sure what show/podcast it originated on) where he was talking about the F4 teams. I believe the only team he mentioned in the context of NIL was Illini. Was talking about how first matchup with UConn was completely different with Petrovic getting more minutes that Wagler, then said something like Petrovic is getting paid a couple of million and now hardly even plays. Then made another comment about what an Illini player or players are being paid.

Seemed strange for him to single out Illinois in this way. I was wondering if there was something behind it other than him being a cry baby and putz in general?

That about sums it up, actually.

Michigan is pure evil and no one should root for them under any circumstances
Yeah I root for most Big Ten teams against other conferences and in theory it's better for Illinois that Big Ten teams win (both financially and as far as boosting our program prestige). But still, I can't in most circumstances bring myself to root for Michigan. If it was Purdue that'd be a different story.

However, it also depends on their opponent. I don't have animosity towards Arizona. But if the opponents were flipped and Michigan were going against UConn? I'd be rooting for the meteor #1, but barring that I gotta root for Hurley to lose. There is nobody in the entire sport of basketball who needs to be humbled more than that guy. I am glad we have the chance to be the ones to do it (and I don't have to root for Michigan to do it).

Not that Flipping bad; it doesn’t!!!
Anybody but Michigan. Any-Bod-y!
And that’s saying a lot because I wanna see “Hurley” cry on national television.
sick team america GIF

So you’re okay with Musty Day going there and immediately winning a natty?
Did I mention that it’s Michigan? Michigan.

The most underappreciated play of that game. That's a clean look for one of the best shooters in the country if Head doesn't recognize the situation.

I am good with either scenario.

I was at the game. He saw Deron was behind their defense and was going for the long pass. I've always wondered had that pass been on the mark would it have ended the game.

watched this and didn't realize how much closer it was than I remembered. forgot Louisville took the lead in the second half a few times. Illinois did clamp down on then last 9 minutes to extend that lead.

Me too. I was kinda shocked watching it last night. My memory was that we beat them like a bad drum. Although I remembered the Roger Powell putback dunk, forgot about the heater he went on.

Maybe it's been discussed already, but do the teams get to practice in Lucas Oil on the game court? Seems like a good idea for the teams to get used to a much different shooting background so the games aren't a brick fest at least to start anyway.
Yes. They have practices on the court. There's an open to the public practice on Friday, but I assume they have a closed session on Thursday since they drove there today

I hope both teams continue to think that way.
