The best team in my mind without a doubt is the 89 Flyin Illini. I saw them in Hawaii, they were outstanding in all facets of the game, loaded with talent. 2005 was close but 2nd in my opinion. This version is very good but I think 3rd all time
Not sure about that, but he constantly calls Wagler "Vagler" like he's Mo Wagner and called Yaxel "Luxembourg". It's a bummer that Petrovic didn't work translate to the college game, but he definitely can play.Poor Mick has to mention multiple times Petrovic is making $1M (allegedly) and doesn’t even play now.
Is he right on the price tag?
Drove over to watch them play LSU right before Xmas that season. OMG- I dont think I have ever seen an Illinois team play like they did that night. Completely destroyed them in Baton Rouge. The best team in my mind without a doubt is the 89 Flyin Illini. Greg Nixon is one of the coolest funniest guys I have ever met. He was at the bar after our game with VCU in Greenville. Met him with Nate Harris. They could not have been any nicer. Greg said he had done one of our games (he mostly works in the B12). Nate had done several. All I can say is I would spend an entire night listening to Greg tell stories. Straight comedy - the guy could be on stage he is so funny. They both said we could win it all from what they have seen?one of these things is not like the others:
Thank you!Omni
Not only that we've never gone above 1 seed line. To date (including the Houston game) we won as a 5 vs Cincy as a 4 in 2004. A 9 vs UNLV as an 8 in 2011. 2 years ago we won as a 3 vs 2 vs Iowa State & the same vs Houston this year. That's it for the sum total of our tourney "upsets". It's time to change that.Would be a good year to beat 2 or3 high/better seeded teams. I don't believe Illinois has ever beat 2 higher seeded teams in a single NCCAT
you have my sword!FanDuel and DraftKings (and probably others) have posted lines/odds for potential championship games.
They have us about +5/35% against either Arizona or Michigan
They have UConn about +5.5/33% against Arizona and +6/31% against Michigan
According to these, we shouldn't care who we face in the NCG even though UM is favored over Arizona and would be more favored over UConn than Arizona.
So I'm still rooting for UM to lose as always.
So the glass is half full? I wish I could join you in that, but I'm a glass is half empty old fart. I've had my heart broke too many times in games this consequential. And I've been living and dying with Illini teams over more than half a century. We're still on our destined path. UConn won't be able to handle the team we've become since the last game. 10+ point win incoming![]()
