1. Why do you assume he was ever a legitimate candidate for the UI job?
2. You predicted Keatts would want one of the best open jobs where he can get a 500% raise? What is this sorcery???
3. No thanks to Janks. When the Larry Brown magic wears off, he's in trouble.
Respectfully answering your questions/points.
1. Many analysts had linked Keatts to the Illinois job, not just me. Lots of people on this board wanted him as well.
2. Granted I went there, but NCSU does have a lot of attractive qualities, even if Illinois can throw a lot more money at a coach. Also, we do not know the terms of his contract yet. The Triangle is a great area to live and work in, he was at Hargrave for years (1.5 hrs away), he has a ton of recruiting ties in that area (most of the people he recruited to Louisville was in NCSU's backyard), and K/Williams will be gone from there soon. Transitions are messy and he would be established enough to take advantage of it (hypothetically of course). Throw that in with the school has won 2 National Championships, regardless of how long it was ago.
I thought it was quite possible he may want Illinois based off of the money. I can only speculate with the info that I had, isn't that what we are all doing here?
3. People didn't seem to say that when Weber took over for Bill Self? I'm just saying, tough to beat going 39-4 since you took over, must be doing something right. Brown (while a snake in the grass) is a great basketball mentor.
