Saw unconfirmed report that Beason is joining his brother and transferring to Oregon State.

Obviously may not be true...but if it is...what happened with him here?

I thought for sure we’d see him on the field constantly when he was healthy.

Was it the injury? Bad coaching? Was he overrated out of high school?

Something just seemed off.

Hopefully he doesn’t jump in the portal and gives BB time to put his Defensive staff in place and allows them the opportunity to pitch him a strong sell before he gives us a hard pass 🙇🏽‍♂️✨🤞🏽

Let’s hope. As I said, this is unconfirmed. The source — beavrecruiting — said he was direct messaged (didn’t say by whom) but had not tried to confirm the move with it being Christmas. Not sure how good his sources are, so may well not be true at all. I will say if he does indeed transfer then going to Oregon State would be the best as far as I’m concerned since I root for the Beavs too. But much rather have him stay with Illini.

I don’t think he was fully healthy most of the time. Hope he stays because I think he could benefit greatly from the coaching change.

Someone is going to have to explain how that can be viewed as negative. I'm not viewing that as a "I'm out of here" type tweet. Unless it's some sort of an ultimatum?

In terms of Transfers-Out, I think we're off to a really good start. None yet stepping forward...........instead, only announcements from seniors electing to stay.

What's the thought on B. Peters? Would really love to know what BB is thinking about the QB position in 2021.
- IW?
- BP?
- Coan transfer-in?
- Bigger name transfer-in?

That is a really tough question without truly knowing the type of offense we are going to run. Personally I would prefer a balanced offense with a running QB. I am not sure what was going on behind the scenes in the QB room, but BP looked off this year IMO

I can't imagine any of the QBs will decide anything until they know who the OC is and what sort of offense we are likely to run. Of course, if a very good QB transfers in there might be a bit more concern on the current players to find another place but if I were advising my son I would say stay put until you know what the new Illini look is going to be.

App State playmakers who led the team in 2020 (potential transfers):

QB - Z. Thomas (67% passing; 2200 yards passing; 312 yards rushing) - SR.
RB - C. Peoples (1100 yards; 6.7/carry) - SO.
RB - D. Harrington (600 yards; 5.6/carry) - JR.
RB - Marcus Williams (500 yards; 7.4/carry) - SR.
WR - T. Hennigan (600 yards; 13.1/catch) - SR.
WR - Malik Williams (540 yards; 13.1/catch) - SR.

A couple of the RB's have multiple years of eligibility, but that's about it. Likely no real help here.

Encouraged that I’ve seen no further info on the unconfirmed Twitter report on Beason that I posted. Hopefully that means he’s not transferring.

I hope Beason stays and can live up the big hype that he came in with --- but as of now he's down the list of players that would hurt team if they transferred...

Hobbs/Adams returning for 5th years are much more critical to the near term success of the team. Weatherspoon is also a far superior DB at this point in time. Incoming recruit Edwards will probably pass Beason on the depth chart if he plays like he did in that Penn St game...

Wouldn't mind a year of either of the WRs just to fill out a thin position group.
